Cheers outlet at Chua Chu Kang MRT station caught repeatedly selling cigarettes to minors
The Health Sciences Authority, HSA, has suspended for six month the tobacco retail licence of a Cheers outlet at Choa Chu Kang MRT Station for repeatedly selling cigarettes to a minor.
An employee at the outlet was caught selling tobacco products to a person below the age of 18 on the 10th of December.
HSA says this is the second time an employee of the outlet has been caught committing the offence.
The offence is punishable with a maximum fine of up to $5,000 for the first conviction and up to $10,000 for the second or subsequent conviction.
The tobacco retail licences could also be suspended or revoked for repeated offences.
HSA says it'll continue to take stringent enforcement action so as to discourage and prevent the illegal sale of tobacco products to underaged youths.
