SINGAPORE: Two of three men charged in court on Friday with bribery have pleaded guilty.
Mohamed Shadan Abu Bakar has been slapped with five counts of accepting S$3,300 in bribes from 2003 to 2005. a senior technician working for Capitaland Retail at the time of the offence.
He had inflated the number of spare parts that two service contractors used for repair jobs done at Tampines Mall. This is so that the two companies could claim a bigger sum from Capitaland Retail, which manages the mall.
One of the firms is Rhythme Technology, a company that specialises in fire and smoke management systems.
Shadan admitted to accepting money from Rhythme Techonology's then-service manager, Leo Teng Chin. For offering bribes, Leo faces two corruption charges.
Shadan also admitted that he accepted money from Seah Chee You, managing director of Huang Kee Building Maintenance. Huang Kee was the other firm engaged to service Tampines Mall.
Seah has pleaded guilty to two of three charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
If convicted, the three may be fined up to S$100,000 or jailed for up to five years, or both.
Separately, the managing director of Rhythme Technology has also been charged with corruption. Chan Yew Chong had allegedly offered a sum of S$25,000 to Lin Hoong Tat from Colt Ventilation East Asia in 2002.
In return, Chan was to be awarded the smoke control system installation contract at Singapore Press Holdings at Toa Payoh. Under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Chan may be fined up to S$100,000 or jailed up to five years, or both. -

Actually the company can just sack the staff and ban the contractor forever , solve problem liao , why waste court time and $$ CPIB got nothing better to do I think. while those cheating multi million got away , peanut case they pursue
