SMRT 950 a failed start?

SINGAPORE : The first bus of SMRT's new service number 950 to Johor Baru, Malaysia started on Sunday, running from the Woodlands Regional Interchange to JB's Kotaraya II Terminal.
The service also marks the end of the monopoly held by rival operator SBS Transit, which runs service numbers 170 and 160 to Johor Bahru.

In the past, Woodlands residents headed for JB needed to take a shuttle service, followed by a short walk before getting to the Woodlands Checkpoint.
But now service 950 delivers them straight to the Checkpoint within 15 minutes.
And residents say it is not only more convenient, but also saves them half the bus fare.
There was even a surprise souvenir gift thrown in for the maiden trip's first passenger.
Bus 950 will make about 100 trips every day, and SMRT expects the daily passenger load to grow beyond 2,000.
"There are enough passengers for all this services, and we provide a convenience for our passengers, especially those in the north and northeast," said Tan Hup Foi, deputy CEO of SMRT. - CNA
There are very few passengers on its first day... Going down the drain for compeition? Or going to be another MediaWorks and MediaCorp sort of merger in the end? -

1st SMRT service... Also not welcome by ministers...unlike that 160, the 2nd SBST service.

950 very hard to wait in JB and WDL chkpt. People still prefer CW1 or SBST...

On Sundy, Causeway is at chaos
CW1: Allows passenger to alight at the bridge and walk to Causeway on the road (Not allowed), and cutting of lanes (Luan Luan Lai), drives like road bully
CW2: Dun operate bet Larkin and WDL... They will ask you to take CW1 till WDL
950: Cutting of lanes (Luan Luan Lai), drives like road bully
SBS: Best, drives carefully...
Oh ya... What has happened to CW3/4?

People who travel to JB city ( take 160/170 until JB Checkpoint ), will get the highest amount of fare deducted. CW is still a good choice. 160 and 170 buses need to go one round in Woodlands Centre Rd, waste time and crowded.Originally posted by sbst275:But CW1 got prob now.... Another reason for CW poor business is that, 170 started to ferry passengers beside Kranji MRT instead of the bus stop across the overhead bridge. -
