SINGAPORE : The Education Ministry will give more resources to schools to help them come up with new and innovative ways of teaching their students.
There will be more teachers over the next five years - 1,000 for primary schools, 1,400 for secondary schools and 550 for junior colleges and centralised institutes.

From next month, there will be a programme to attract former teachers to rejoin the profession.
And by 2008, every school will have at least one full-time school counsellor.
The Education Ministry will also recruit dedicated staff trained in special education for about 50 mainstream schools so that they can help students with special needs. - CNA
