SINGAPORE : Three explosions took place on Sunday morning at a construction site for the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway, no one was injured.
The site is at the junction of MacPherson and Paya Lebar Roads, and includes some work for the Circle Line MRT, which intersects there.
Police say that at about 10am, there were explosions and flash fire in a tunnel being built as part of the KPE at the construction site.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the explosions came from gas cylinders before they arrived.
There were 6 gas cylinders kept within a cage used for cutting and welding.
After SCDF officers arrived, they switched off the gas valves, and were cooling down the cylinders when another explosion occurred.
The Land Transport Authority says it believed that metal struts had fallen on the cylinders.
It said workers had completed some work on the "base slab" and were dismantling the struts.
The 11 workers on-site had all been evacuated.
Investigations are now underway into the worksite accident. - CNA -
