SINGAPORE : From November 1, Arts Central will be starting a new belt of programmes.
While the channel retains the arthouse film and documentary line-up that it is famous for, some other interesting choices will also be lined up for viewers - from lifestyle programmes to adult animation.
Jobina Tan, Programming Manager of Arts Central, said: "Currently Arts Central is viewed as something very high brow, very arts focused. And in a lot of ways, the word Arts Central just throws up images of opera and ballet.
"But what we are trying to show in the refreshing is that Arts Central is not just your Arts programme, it is a lifestyle...the cutting edge, cool, lifestyle, hip channel that we would like people to associate Arts Central to be all about."
And another daring programming choice that will be on your screens next year is Stan Lee's Stripperella.
With a PG rating, the adult animation features a central character modelled after and voiced by Pamela Anderson.
If you are a fan of Japanese anime, you can look forward to a first on Singaporean television - a late night anime programming belt with cult favourites like Twelve Kingdoms and Inuyasha.
Other cult comedy shows like Absolutely Fabulous, Banzai and Reno 911 will be screened during the primetime belt.
Lifestyle shows like Video Fashion News and Design Life will also be mainstays on the channel.
But Arts Central will not give up its arts focus. It will continue to feature works such as the award-winning Singapore Short Story Project.
Jobina added: "We find that the whole creative, experimental angle of programming or television making can sit very beautifully on Arts Central and have local viewers see really what the creative potential of our talents are." - CNA
