http://buddhism.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=135816I got a very good CD explaining Heart Sutra by my Master. If you would like me to send you, just PM me.
Basically "emptiness" is the theme of Heart Sutra. Heart means the core teaching, of the Mahaprajnaparamita Sutras ammounting to 600 of them.
When we speak of Emptiness, we might think that it is simply absence. Absence of form, of eyes, of ears, of taste, etc etc. The world is absent. That is not the case.
In Buddhism Emptiness means the lack of inherent existences, in which case I had a personal insight 3 years ago after a very tranquil meditation. I came across the quote 'Emptiness is Form, Form is Emptiness', and realised that the essence of Heart Sutra is beyond any conceptuality. It just is! No more discriminations, no more concepts of anything. Not something that needs analysis, I believe a quiet mind is enough. I did not spend time contemplating Heart Sutra to come to its meaning, when i saw it when my mind is peaceful, it just came to me.
What is meant by conceptuality? Identification, giving meaning to what reality is. People attached to conceptuality cannot see beyond form - form is form, why emptiness? Because conceptuality derives from perception, it discriminates things, giving names, views, etc. 'Emptiness' is to be empty of such delusions, to see reality as it is, beyond the layer of thoughts that binds us to Samsara.
This is my own understandings only from my experience, if anyone find faults with my explanation I would appreciate if you correct me. But I suggest if you want to thoroughly understand, PM me
