Hi guys, I've been thinking of offering Buda some "buddhist-meditative" songs. Could you suggest me any songs, titles to download at internet or Kazaa, eDonkey, something like that?
An Eternal Now
Support Original (especially those that you offer to Buddha)
I don't know what kind of music, because I don't listen to music in meditation, neither have I offered music before.

In Lotus Sutra, Chapter 2, Sakyamuni says that dancing or playing music as an offer is a good thing to do. "If any persons, in stupas and mausoleums, To jeweled images and painted images. With flowered and perfumed banners and canopies And with deferential thoughts make offerings, Or if they cause others to make music, Beating drums and blowing horns and conchs, Or sounding flutes, of many reeds or of only one, And lyres, mounted on stands or not, And lutes and cymbals, Producing many fine sounds like these And holding them all up as offerings; Or if with joyful thought They sing hymns of praise To the excellences of the Buddha, Producing so much as one tiny sound, they Have all achieved the Buddha Path." So, I will try finding something by Ravi Shankar, the "problem" is that he is hinduist not budist... but I will keep trying. Thanks for your attention. Nam-Myoho-Rengue-Kyo
I personally think Music/sounds are universal.. but of course it will be great if you can find from Buddhist sources.
BTW just wondering, are you affiliated with any Nichiren groups?

Yes, I frequent the ONG Sokka Gakkai. We learn the Nichiren's doctrine at it. Nam-Myoho-Rengue-Kyo.

Hi frsjulio,
I notice one of your previous post saying you 'frequent ONG soka gakkai'. What does it mean? Anyway, which country are you from?
=)

Sorry, the word is NGO(Non-governamental organization), not ONG(Organização não-governamental em português). I'm from Brazil. I study all budist schools I can find in books or internet.
Though I am devote of the Lotus Sutra and consider myself Nichiren's doctrine follower(that's why I consider Nam Myoho Rengue Kyo the most important mantra of all), I act more like a Zen Budist, pratice meditation. yet I am not "exclusively" Mahayana, I study a lot of Theravada sutras. I am a bit of it all. Nam-Myoho-Rengue-Kyo

Soka Gakkai is an international NGO that teaches the Buda Nichiren Daishonin's doctrine, which affirmates that in the Latter Days of The Law, if one recites with faith the title of the Lotus Sutra(Myoho-Rengue-Kyo) is sufficient to become Buda and that there's no other Sutra greater than the Lotus Sutra.
