Theres none at secondary school level. And the style is different. Buddhist/Christian societies are distinctly different from uniformed groupsOriginally posted by dumbdumb!:lol.. shaolin monk.. that's a good one.
there's actually a buddhist cca grp in SP.
they're beside my christian grp hahaha![]()
Does starting a new CCA at sec school level = Evangelical.Originally posted by theSquelch:i don't see the point of this. and honestly turning evangelical would be so tacky and tasteless for this religion.
This would definately be addressed once more people are willing to volunteer for this project. No worriesOriginally posted by theSquelch:Where does one draw the line between pushy and neutral?
How then can Buddhism reach out to secondary school youths? Wait for them to enter poly or uni and join BS?Originally posted by bohiruci:What is the main objective of this CCA?
What is the main contribution this will have on the society?
Is it a CCA on getting more frens ,or a CCA more to discussion ?
How to manage funds in the society? (usually the most headache one )
actually in Some Polytechnics like Ngee Ann, Singapore and Nanyang
there is Buddhist society
and NTU ,NUS
so building a CCA based on uniformed will be quite difficult its role
should try read how Girl Guides ,Boys brigade is formed
wellOriginally posted by nol:How then can Buddhism reach out to secondary school youths? Wait for them to enter poly or uni and join BS?
Funding problems will occur at any level, not necessarily tertiary.
Even if the CCA dun model after Boys Brigade or Girl Guides, why cant there be a BS at secondary school level? Why not start with Buddhist schools?
i would reallie appreciate if u would take a look at our only buddhist schoolOriginally posted by nol:How then can Buddhism reach out to secondary school youths? Wait for them to enter poly or uni and join BS?

Originally posted by bohiruci:which school is not facing funding problem? And even if its not a uniformed group, why not a BS at secondary level? Turn it into something that relies on less fund. Refer to the Di Zang Sutra for a list of what layman can do.

Walking the Bodhi Path is much more difficult than that. But have you given up? I'm sure you are also steadfast on the Buddha's words.
unless u can raise up a big amount of $ and many excellent teacher over there which i think it is hard
They can contribute not as teachers then, but as individuals who do behind the scene planning and sai kang warriors.
many of my fren who are Buddhist practitioner and join the teaching career ,were sent to christian school or mission school
Understanding ourselves is more important than understanding the outside world.
understand MOE first b4 we look at this issue .......
Student monksOriginally posted by NT2:student monks will be helpful. teach them morals
in that case . show me with action , dun quote from sutra to tell me wat to doOriginally posted by nol:Understanding ourselves is more important than understanding the outside world.
And MOE is tolerant to religious pursuits after curiculum hours.
Imho, SAF is much much worst than MOE.And yet so many of us actually survived that. I myself left SAF with a perm injury but I still love my country and would still defend it when the need arise.
Futhermore refer to Lotus Sutra Chapter 14 An Le Xin Pin or Chapter 25 Pu Men Pin (GuanYin Pusa). It covers how the Bodhisattva should conduct when dealing with kings, governmental officials and other people of different social status, professions, thinking and habits
Pratising Buddhism means overcoming ourselves. Adverse conditions are very much needed for spiritual improvement. The Bodhisattva never gives up during difficult times. And is ever earness in subdueing his own mind and benefitting others. With this common compassion, the Bodhisattva yearns for common Attaintment with all.
Hmm... this forum was created by someone from the SP Buddhist Society. Not me, I'm not from SP nor poly.. still secondaryOriginally posted by dumbdumb!:lol.. shaolin monk.. that's a good one.

seconded thatOriginally posted by laurence82:eh, since when Girl Guides a christian cca group?
anyway, its cool to be form Buddhists CCA, but i prefer those along the line of Buddhist Societies in NUS or polys..
Again, when it come to spreading teachings, there is a dire need for caution
I think its never a wish among Buddhists to see their faith evangelise along the line of some other religions, mainly, being pushy and worse of all, never realise the consequence of one's speech and action
and worse of all, for me, i see religions that readily take up the charismatic line fail, they may have increase in number of believers, but they fail in understanding the faith
