If I am working for AVA and I am ordered to kill all the crows and pigeons on the trees for fear they will carry bird flu that will harm the humans, do you think it is a sin if I carry out that order?
Thank you for your sharing, I think I have to agree with you to a large extent.Originally posted by longchen:There will be karma.
Recently I have been reading about how during WWII, the Japanese experimented with Chinese civilians, mutilating them alive for biological experiments. I was very very disturbed and sad... But my guiding intuition also told me that some of the people who got cut alive were in the past participating in killing animals. Many of them could be butchers killing pigs and cattle. Now, the same thing happens back to them, because the Japanese captors did not really treat them as humans, but more like animals.
I think as long as we participate in the killing of sentient beings with pain receptors and feelings, we must face the consequence.
We are not gods and cannot play gods. Nobody give us the mandate to kill other lifeforms because they spread disease to us. BTW, the bird flu is our human karma for harming other life forms indiscriminately.
You are most welcome, my friendOriginally posted by An Eternal Now:Thank you for your sharing, I think I have to agree with you to a large extent.
Any kind of killing will certainly result in karma... so better make a wise choice about it. Whether you are willing to sacrifice by taking on that karma in order to benefit the others.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:What about killing of mosquitoes to control dengue?
What has ruthless killing got to do with Selflessness? That is selfishness since we only care about humans and not the other creatures which are also sentient in nature and will suffer too.Originally posted by Suicine:Be selfless. Just kill the goddamn animals and take the karma yourself.
I have no idea whether the bird flu can be controlled or not.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Anyway, tell me if I'm wrong, it's impossible to control the spread of bird flu by culling wild birds. The most we can do is only control localised outbreaks (i.e farms). The wild birds can fly from north to south for thousands of kilometres, there is nothing we can do about it.
Hmm but it is also likely that they will intensify culling of crows and pigeons...
k... another question...Originally posted by longchen:There will be karma.

Ya. In fact, all those animals that are killed also have created bad karma in the past that is why they are suffering from being culled now. But you are creating bad karma for yourself that will take effect in future by killing them.Originally posted by Honeybunz:k... another question...
If I happen kill an animal which has karma from previous life (a butcher for example), will I still have karma?

retake the test , hmmmm , it will be betta to saidOriginally posted by longchen:Hi Honeybunz,
Firstly, i must stress that i am not a buddhist and my views are not representative of Buddhism. Please read them using your own judgement. Thanks.
Karma, to me, is the result of not fully recognising/understanding the cause of an occurence. So as long as the cause is not understood, it will replay until either we understand it or when our desires for it died down.
So i dun think, karma is like one plus one equal two. It is more like once we understand the cause(test) we don't have to experience it again or we lose interest(desire) in that type of activity, otherwise we must retake the test
My understanding is that the boomerang do not just hit you once...It will continue to hit until the karma is resolved through understanding the cause and/or the persons involved loses interest in the related type of activity.Originally posted by bohiruci:retake the test , hmmmm , it will be betta to said
we are throwing boomerang around
if we dun repent our bad actions (prepare to face it )
we will be hit when the boomerang comes back
the severity of our being hit depends on how hard we throw the boomerang out
So in my first senario that I used, should I or should I not carry out the order?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Yes there will be karma. But depending on the situation, by preventing disease from spreading, you also gain certain good karma. (but not indiscriminate killing!) Good karma can sort of 'neutralize' or lessen the effect of bad karma... but not entirely.
Nevertheless any form of killing with intents result in bad karma.
first u are carry out orders , u dun work ,ppl all waiting to take ur ricebowlOriginally posted by Honeybunz:So in my first senario that I used, should I or should I not carry out the order?
If you were the AVA staff receiving that order, will you do it?
