sick, how to get help?

My cousin caught a mysterious virus while she is studying medicial school in England.. the virus may or may not be life-threatening... Doc has yet to identitfy what it is..
why she caught this virus.. Got karma implications?
The virus cause her red-blood cells fight red-blood cells.. her fingers bend unnaturally backwards.... some doc guess it's the 'fast aging' illness.. some guess other way round...
I know can chant medicine Buddha sutra. However, i not sure whether her karma can receive the merits if i chant for her.. any other ways to help her?
currently, i m having exam don't think i can chant or eat veggie for her but i really worry for her conditions now... -
Dear Isis the medicine Buddha chant does help ... u have to tell her to put 100% faith in it . If u doubt the capability of Medicine Buddha chants ,then it will be quite hard for her to have strength to overcome

Really thank for offering to help to chant. Honestly, i never chant the sutra for medicine Buddha.. aso not sure how to start...
she don't believe in Buddhism.... either do her parents...
i'm aso curious...
when we dedicate merits, it aso depends on the other person's karma to receive it right? -

To recite the Medicine Buddha mantra is equivalent to reciting the whole Medicine Buddha sutra
If she doesnt believe in Buddhism , i think it IS DIFFICULT FOR BUDDHA TO HELP HER ,get it ? -

When directed or transference of merit ,this becomes a form of signal like radio signal which enters human body and create equanmity
it is hard for sick ppl to meditate or chant due to their constitution ,therefore the responsibility of the healthier beloved frens....
Scientist actually went to measure the brainwaves of a person chanting and they found alot of truth abt the stability of their brain pattern ,compared to the erratic brain pattern of monkeys and apes
Buddhism stressed the correct understanding of the sutra and the law of Karma before using chanting as a form to help others
With no wisdom and full of compassion , one only works on the powers of chanting, yet cannot help other further .
those who doubt the powers of Buddha , how can Buddha be able to help them

"God helps those who helps themselves" -
Apart from this powerful 'energy', it is possible to receive blessings from Medicine Buddha. I would like to relate (I have posted this before) one true story:

Even though your cousin has not taken refuge, it is also good to chant for him the Buddha-name or mantra of Medicine Buddha. However, you receive most of the benefits of the chanting rather than him. There is a saying... when you chant, 6 parts goes to u, 1 part goes to person (you intend to chant to benefit). It is best for him to chant or at least recognise your chanting. And it is also important if possible, that he takes refuge in the Three Treasures, Buddha Dharma Sangha. Soon, he went for the surgery (or is it not? i cant remember)... I believe he had been practising.. and then he slipped into a coma. For 4 days he remained unconscious, until the 4th day, the first thing he remembered was seeing a figure of a man, he done quite some description but i really cannot remember it anymore. After awaking from it he asked the doctors/nurses whether someone came to visit him. They said nope, nobody had visited him when he woke up. It was later he visited the lama again, and the lama told him the figure was a manifest of the Medicine Buddha, and he was saved by the Medicine Buddha. Later he went for several surgeries and succeeded. I still see him sometimes these days. -
Everyone can receive merits, even those beings suffering in Hell. But problem is whether the merits you dedicate is enough to change her karmic hindrance... sometimes its difficult to change certain karmic hindrance.

It is not good for mind and body to indulge in too much computer games. My dharma teacher strongly disadvise in indulging in video games.. and practitioners of the path will also know. -

Anyone who experience giddiness and eye pain should check their windows Refresh Rate and always enable V Sync during gaming especially if your monitor is CRT
How to change refresh rate... u right click on ur desktop, go properties, then from there go settings, click on advanced, the go monitor. then from there u can see ur 'screen refresh rate', how many hertz... basically it is how fast the screen refreshes itself. if it is low, then it will certainly make a person feel giddy and hurt the eye after some time, and when playing games, always enable 'v sync' if there is such an option.
If yours is a CRT monitor, chances are you can set your monitor refresh rate to as high as 85, and if yours is LCD, probably 70.
and remember v sync, if possible, cos some games set the refresh rate back to 60. -
I know now is holiday period, many people like me have a lot of time to spend.... many people will indulge in computer gaming when they feel bored. It is not healthy.
My dharma teacher knows this very well. During meditation in her office, she could feel very very strongly harmful energy/vibration coming out from her computer monitor. Also when she use her handphone, she could feel the same thing. Maybe I should tell her to at least get an LCD monitor which should help.
And it is not only harmful to body, it is harmful to practise/mind. Any form of indulgence is an escape to our 'Present Awareness', if you have read about what I posted earlier. Many find distractions and difficulties in meditation after too much indulgence, including me. I know this myself bcos I used to play too much computer games too.
