thanks eternal..Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Please read: How dreams work (according to Buddhism)
Basically most dreams occur due to the 7th consciousness (consciousness of "self") taking out the videotapes of the 8th consciousness to view them. But it is also possible that it is a 10) divine intervention based dreams - Dreams that are cause by intervention of Buddha, bodhisattvas or saints, for the sake of delivering sentient beings.
I am guessing that your dreams of Buddha probably mean you have Yuan with Fuo, meaning you have the karmic link with Buddha. Maybe at one time you were his disciple, or you were a Buddhist in your previous life.
A ray of light shining on you by Buddha could mean that the Buddha is blessing you... I am not sure myself.
It should be a good sign and therefore you should start learning about Buddhism, taking refuge in the Three Treasures and practise the dharma.

sour or gd relationship with someone
"Urm for example, a body been buried, then decomposed, but the space in which the body used to be there still there, so the soil doesnt collapse"
this second part sounds hard to explain
maybe u have been practising in the forest in your past lives as an monk ?
becos from my understanding those dream which tells of death and burial of body have to do with your past lives
yes less religious way means psychologyOriginally posted by laurence82:actually, what is a less religious way? you mean psychology?
how abt the second part, how from your understanding, dreams tell of death and burial relate to past lives?
Ever heard of meditations on corpse/death? I think these dreams serve useful to tell us how impermanent our body is...Originally posted by laurence82:Then i worse

so to enhance the affinity wif buddha , what do u recommend? The main purpose of Taking refuge in Three Treasures (i.e Buddha, Dharma, Sangha) is to 'Jie Yuan' with the San Bao (three treasures). So if you want to 'enhance affinity' with Buddha, you must definitely take refuge in Three Treasures. Some people know some teachings of Buddhism, but they did not take refuge, also no affinity. Buddha clearly told that to become his disciple, the first thing is to Take Refuge in the Three Treasures. Taking refuge is also the first step towards Enlightenment.
currently i hav been recitin 'great compassion mantra' coz i was once enlightened by 'Great compassion GUAN YIN' ( and i mean she reali appeared in my dream and tok to mi..). does tis mean i hav taken refuge by reciting?Yes, Da Bei Zhou is a powerful mantra so since you have affinity with Guan Yin you should chant Da Bei Zhou. It is a good practise. Both my dharma teacher and my mother have deep affinity with Guan Yin Pu Sa (many happenings before), in fact my dharma teacher told my mother that she was a student of Guan Yin before
i dreamt of my past live too..but i dunno how true can it be..My mother also said she used to be able to dream of past lives often. I think these things are hard to verify, but might be possible.
does buddhist hav the practise of giving out omulet aka pic of buddha (in the public) during the 1st and the 15th of the month?Amulet or Omulet?
i told him i no $(coz i experience this b4 and theres no free ting)..so i rejected . but then he assure mi tat its FREE!!but still i din take it ..Who is this person? Someone on the streets? Anyway I think it should be fine.
wats ur opinion on tis?
and does monk hav the special ability (due to their cultivation) to c ppl aura. if im not wrong everyone has a certain pattern(colors) of aura and not b seen by naked eyes..Yes it is possible. My Taiwanese dharma teacher used to tell us to practise well.... whether or not we practise well, they will know because they can 'see'
also.. how to tame a wandering mind and how to improve concentration?Practise the dharma. Not only sitting meditation, but every moment even in the midst of your life. Practise Mindfulness.
vast knowledge out tere..but little i can absorb..sumtime i tink havin juz one 'practical' experience outweight tons of them..Exactly.
be a little more sensitive..and use ur heart to c the world..u will hav different experience..If you can use 'Guan Zi Zai' (read Heart Sutra) to see the world, then you will be a Bodhisattva.

samara = lost ..back to the 'practicial world', back to the cycle of suffering?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Yes, Da Bei Zhou is a powerful mantra so since you have affinity with Guan Yin you should chant Da Bei Zhou. It is a good practise. Both my dharma teacher and my mother have deep affinity with Guan Yin Pu Sa (many happenings before), in fact my dharma teacher told my mother that she was a student of Guan Yin before Just that unfortunately she has been lost in Samsara again. My mother could memorise the Da Bei Zhou in no time. Her sisters try to memorise Da Bei Zhou for a week also cannot.
However, chanting Da Bei Zhou does not mean you have taken refuge in Three Treasures, they are two different things.
ur mum is buddhist first then insights or vice versa?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:My mother also said she used to be able to dream of past lives often. I think these things are hard to verify, but might be possible.
haa..sorry..make a fool of myslf..Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Amulet or Omulet? Omulet is a food made of eggs.
I do not know, maybe more in the Thai Buddhist tradition, my Buddhist tradition does not practise this. Where did you hear this from? (a Thai Buddhist?)

ic..Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Yes it is possible. My Taiwanese dharma teacher used to tell us to practise well.... whether or not we practise well, they will know because they can 'see' He said something like different people had different aura if I'm not wrong.
Not every monk, but some of them can.

how to go abt doin tis? ..i tink is not physically 'c' rite...its a heart 'see' heart kind of tings..?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:If you can use 'Guan Zi Zai' (read Heart Sutra) to see the world, then you will be a Bodhisattva.

Firstly I'm sorry to have confused you, because I do not know your level of understanding. It seems like your are still new to Buddhist teachings.Originally posted by simplified:takin refuge = declaration infront of buddha?
into the three treasures = followin the buddha, dharma(teachin), sangha(monk practises)?
Enlightenment = free frm all sufferin, all feelin, attain a everlastin state of peacefulness?
can explain in more layman terms...sorry
I don't think I said my mother had insights
ur mum is buddhist first then insights or vice versa?
haa..sorry..make a fool of myslf..No la, anyone who seeks Buddha and Dharma is not foolish.
mindfulness = 24 hr alertness? awareness ? to everyting..?Awareness can be said 'knowing' or 'awakening'. Not aware would be 'ignorance'.
how to go abt doin tis? ..i tink is not physically 'c' rite...its a heart 'see' heart kind of tings..?No, it is neither physically or mentally. Heart sutra teaches emptiness, so if you can perceive emptiness every moment, in all things. By always perceiving that all things arise due to Yin Yuan (cause and conditions), and cease due to Yin Yuan, it is without subtance and impermanent, therefore we do not become attached. Only remain aware. That is Guan Zi Zai.
purpose of recitin heart sutra?

If you dedicate the merits of the chanting to all sentient beings in the world, then there will be some help. But it is very very little. Because firstly, only you are chanting. The merits is limited. There is also a saying, if you chant for someone, 6 out of 7 parts go to yourself, only 1 part goes to the others. Secondly, even though you are chanting, they do not know the dharma, and continue to be trapped in samsara and sufferings. So there is a limit to what you can do... only when they their Yin Yuan ripen to learn and practise the dharma, will they be able to liberate themselves from sufferings.Originally posted by simplified:hi
can my chantin of Great compassion mantra reduces all beings frm suffering?

By Venerable Shen-Kai
1. Without practising the Bodhisattva Path, one will not be enlightened. One attains enlightenment by practising the Bodhisattva Path.
2. What is a Bodhisattva? "Bodhisattva" means "having feelings and awakened". Human beings are sentient beings because they have feelings. Sentient beings having awakened is called "having feelings and awakened". When we are learning to be Bodhisattvas, we need to constantly maintain our brightness and awareness, and widely practise the Bodhisattva Path. That is called "awakening other sentient beings".
3. The Bodhisattva Path is the Enlightenment Path. To follow the Bodhisattva Path, one first has to aspire for enlightenment for oneself and for all beings. Having this aspiration, one needs to cultivate and attain enlightenment. It is only when one is enlightened that all his thoughts and actions can be considered to be on the Bodhisattva Path.
4. Because all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas posses great compassion, learning Buddhism means learning and practising the great compassion of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
btw are u online in msn now?
