there are earlier founder(s) of WUDANG SECT. notice the AD. but the original idea of Taoism is 'founded' by Lao Zi. (normally the word 'founded' is no a good word in Buddhism, even Buddha never claim He 'founded' Dharma, Dharma just IS, or past down by ancient infinity past Buddhas, if u know what i mean. moreover the word 'I founded' is also egoistic.)
MOUNT WUDANG SECT
Regarding Mt. Wudang as its birthplace, this sect was called the Wudang Tradition. Mt. Wudang, also called Mt. Taihe, was a sacred site of Daoism, and even before the Ming dynasty was honoured as the birthplace of the Great Perfect Warrior Emperor of the Mysterious Northern Heaven. Historically, Daoism on Mt. Wudang was affiliated to the Orthordox Oneness sect in earlier times, and to the Complete Perfection sect in later times. During emperor Zhengzong's era ([b]AD 998-1022), the Orthodox Oneness sect spread to Mt. Wudang and developed into the main power of Daoism on Mt. Wudang, under which the Elder Mao sect, the Three Mao sect and the Lay Daoist Priest Tradition emerged. The Complete Perfection spread to this area 200 years later. During the Hongwu era of the Ming dynasty (AD 1368-1398 AD), Qiu Yuanqing, the fourth generation patriarch of the Dragon Gate branch, became master of Jade Dragon Temple on Mt. Wudang. In the middle of the Ming dynasty, the Dragon Gate had replaced the Orthodox Oneness sect, becoming the main power of Daoism on Mt. Wudang. During the Yongle ear of Ming emperor Chengzu (AD 1403-1424), Zhang Sanfeng, a Daoist of the Complete Perfection sect, founded the Wudang Tradition, a new Daoist sect which differed from the Complete Perfection sect in religious theories and rules as well as sectarian style. The Wudang Tradition attributed its origin to Cheng Tuan's Daoist sect, but then the government put it under the Complete Perfection sect. The Wudang Tradition was characterized by its worship for the Great Perfect Warrior Emperor, its practice of Chinese Inner School Boxing, its advocacy of the Integration of the Three Doctrines and its emphasis on Cultivation and Refinement of Inner Alchemy and Spiritual Nature. It was a new sect of the Complete Perfection Tradition which emerged between the Yuan and Ming dynasties. According to the General Summary of Perfect Men and Sects, the Wudang Tradition had as many as eight branches, among which the Spontaneity sect, the Sanfeng sect, the Renewal sect and the Penglai sect lasted until modern times.

I think the original Tao concept came from Fu Hsi, who was the first of the legendary emperors of ancient China.Originally posted by sinweiy:there are earlier founder(s) of WUDANG SECT. notice the AD. but the original idea of Taoism is 'founded' by Lao Zi. indeed. Fu Hsi was dated 2852 BCE – 2738 BCE(going hand in hand with Egypt thinking). this show that the 'raw' Tao concept (rather than the religion Taoism) or Dharma is a natural phenomenon rather than one's invention. actually, like Moses(prince of Egypt ), Fu Hsi also tapped or seek the supernatural or divine power for insights. their so called 'genius ' is unlike that of Einstein.Originally posted by longchen:I think the original Tao concept came from Fu Hsi, who was the first of the legendary emperors of ancient China.
He was a true genius and he invent the I-ching as well.
For your info, the I-ching is made up of 64 hexagram which computes 64 possibilities. The I-ching structure coincidence with our human DNA structure... could it be that destinity is link to DNA composition?

Golden bright light for highly attained ppl like my Master Chin Kung for eg. while black dim light for bad ppl per se.

Wow... you are so well-verse in Taoism alsoOriginally posted by Thusness:I am not exactly sure whether the rainbow body is Yang Shen or Yang Body.
From the perspective of a taoist, when one is able to sense the vital energy and channel this vital breath through the microcosmic orbit, the next step is to nuture the “yuan yin”, or the primordial baby. The ‘Yang Body’, which is the grown up primordial baby, is the body that is doing all the tricks like flying around (not the physical body) and passing through walls..etc. However, this achievement was the result of focus attention sensing the chi (vital energy), concentration and visualization. The Yang Body is thus the ultimate thought-form body vitalised by chi as opposed to yin-body. The achievement does not require the awakening of prajna wisdom and thus is not the sort of ‘high’ level from the perspective of Buddhism. After Yang Sheng cultivation, Yang Sheng would have to nuture itself into becoming oneness with Tao. It is here that is of the point of interest. The Yang Sheng dissolves into Tao to realize its true nature.

who is Thomas Yeo? care to elaborate on who is he and what he did?Originally posted by Suicine:A guy went to the forest for a meditation retreat, and was gone for 11 whole years! Police dogs and humans combed the area but found no trace of anything. His passport and belongings were found intact in his chalet, so he couldn't have gone abroad. Was he taken away by some spirits from the forest? Did he meditate himself to some heaven? You decide!
Wow Thanks for sharing with us.... compassion and loving kindness is indeed very important.Originally posted by justdoit77:It is also possible for Thomas to be caught by nearby spirit.
There is a real story about a lady who went to a cave to meditate with friends a few months ago. One day, she just disappear to nowhere. Her friends searched thru the whole cave but just couldn't find her. Later on, they went to ask a medium to help. The medium said that she was caught by mountain spirits. In fact, these is a construction site nearby and during the construction, the worker throw away a lot of rubbish to the cave which made the spirits living there very angry.
Her friends also went to ask a tibetan monk for help.
Both the tibetan monk and the medium who is not a buddhist said that the victim was caught by more than ten spirits and was in a very wet place. She must be rescued by tomorrow noon else chances of surviving will be diminished.
While the medium was negotiating with the spirits to set the victim free, her friends and the tibetan monk start chanting (Da Bei Zhou). After sometime, the medium said that bodhisatva has come to her rescue. The lady was then discovered by them at a hill where a normal human can never climb till that high. At the same time, the fire engine has arrived and bring the lady back.
According to what the tibetan monk has said, due to the metta of the bodhisatva, the mountain spirits have all converted to buddhism and become dharma protectors.
It is very important to take note that, don't anyhow go to a remote place to do meditation unless your spiritual cultivation has reached certain level. It is also beneficial to us to do chanting or mantra frequently, so dharma protectors will always protect you from time to time.

Once the Bhagava ( Lord Buddha) was staying at the Jetavana monastery in the pleasance of Anathapindika at Savatthi. A group of monks received permission from the Lord to meditate in a distant forest during the period of Buddhist Lent. Each of the monks took shelter under a big tree as a temporary residence and an engaged themselves intensively in the practice of meditation.
On account of the spiritual power of their meditation, the tree deities could not stay in their trees-abodes above the monks, so they had to come down to the ground. Realizing that the monks would spend the whole rainy season there, the deities were much annoyed. So they tried to scare the monks away during the night by harassing them in various ways.
After living under such impossible conditions for sometime, the monks could not bear it any longer and rushed back to the Buddha and informed him about their difficulties. So the Buddha advised them to recite the text of loving kindness (Metta Sutta) and to radiate the spirit of love to all beings. On the full-moon day of Wagaung, the Buddha taught the monks the Metta Sutta. From that day till now, the full-moon day of Wagaung has been called as the 'Great or Grand Occasion of Metta.
Encouraged by this discourse, the monks returned to their respective places. They practised in accordance with the instructions given them to permeate the entire atmosphere with radiant thoughts of love, The tree-deities were much pleased to be affected by the power of love, and so let the monks (meditators) stay without any further disturbances.
LOL... nope. Thomas Yeo is not a great practitioner who can manifest miraculous feats.Originally posted by marcteng:who is Thomas Yeo? care to elaborate on who is he and what he did?
Maybe when pple came to search for him, he was meditating and was in samadhi and want people not to bother or disturb him, so he appear invisible to people searching for him?
