  another analogy abt how we seldom reflect on ourself and often blame it on the outside surrounding is when an object fall into a hole. and when our hand cannot reach the object. ppl often blame the hole for being too deep, but seldom blame their own hand for being too short.

  My dharma teacher once told us that chanting amitabha is for the future, and chanting guan yin bodhisatva is for the present.
  I kind of agree with him, because western pure land is still quite far from us, but our present is always with us.

  ermm...guan yin bodhisatva is also in western pure land, helping Amitabha together with Great strenght bodhisattva. These 3 are the 'trinity' of western PL.
  may i know ur school/tradition? or ur master name?
