How do you as a buddhist deal with office politics

I do nothing to it. Don't do anything to provoke them. Leave them as they are.

take a look at oneself before judging others.
if one can't even control oneself, what make one think that one can control others.

practise tolerance, patience, loving kindness and compassion to your colleagues lor. this is the best antidote to the ills of office politics.
when u see evil and hear evil, treat it as see as never see and hear, and dun gossip or carry tales. avoid the bad speech and practise good speech. -
But people think that they can take advantage of you by defeating you. whether or not you want to gossip or compete with them, they just want to be at higher hand in the competition. I am sure you seen such people before.
In some situation, 2 groups fighting each other, you really have no choice but to choose a group to side with. -

they want to be no. 1, we buddhists want to be zero, now where's the conflict?
worldly people keep wanting this fame, wanting that wealth, we Buddhist want to give (bu1 shi1) wealth, want to renouce fame. one take, the other give, now again, where's the conflict? no conflict at all.
if the Rich/full know how to give to the poor or the needies, there wouldn't be terrorists already. as people give and help you, you wouldn't want to fight them, wouldn't you? like we help Indonesia during the disaster, they would be grateful, than wanting to harm us, for goodness sake.

life is difficult, life as a human even more so. to get along with other humans is also difficult.
what to do, this if life. if you are a practising buddhist, you treat this as a learning experience, to build up your tolerance, compassion to them lor. -

The true purpose of precept that Buddha impose is to cease all acts of unwholesomeness. hence called, 'jing jie' (precept/discipline of purity). For example if a country ordered that Buddhism be elininated. What should Buddhists do? Such incident took place in China thrice. Look at the history, did any Buddhists be it Ordain and Lay, rebelled or retaliate ? Nope! Why? Buddhists abide by the Vinaya. Forever no hatred to the country. This is truly protecting the Dharma. Why/how? Let the World's people see that Buddhist is the tolerant/wholesome residents. Will the next governor want Buddhism to recover. YES! But if the Buddhists retaliate and treat it with illwill. And other countries see this. It will leave a bad impression. And criticize Buddhism and forever reject Buddhism. For that you truely eliminate Buddhism. So how Buddhism flourish depend on how Buddhists uphold the Vinaya. If Vinaya ends, Buddhism ends.
when the communists soldiers beat Grand Master Xu Yun(Empty cloud), He also didn't retaliate. the communists soldiers beat once, beat twice, third time round, can't bear to beat any more. as the heart will start to forgive, as ren2 xing1 ben3 san4(the original mind is rooted to be kind).
and also the depts of countless previous lifes are yi bi kou xiao.
This ying1 guo3(cause and effect) idea is very profound in vinaya/precept/jie4.
