what is 108 Kata?

is it a theravada buddhist chant or a thai culture or......?
here's a few lines of them:
na mo ta sa
pa ka wa to
ar rak ar to
sum ma sum put ta sa
na mo put ta ya
ja pa ga sa
nak ma pa ta
nak ma ar wut -
its in pali.. juz like thriple jem
Putang saranang ke cha mi
ta mang sara nang ke cha mi

I was adviced to chant this everyday before I bathe, before I eat, before I sleep or anytime I feel uneasy.
yesterday, my mother inlaw & uncle brought me to a native thai buddhist master who's visiting sg & I had a small tattoo done, they also had theirs done. after done, I left in a hurry & she passed me the chant on a paper when she got home as adviced by the master. so didn't get to ask much then & she was not very clear in explanation either. so I inquire here if anyone could explain. -

Its strange that you have tattoo done? Is the buddhist master a monk or lay follower? beware of fake or mercenaries monks out there.
Tattoo's has nothing to do with Buddhism, so why get the tattoo in the first place? -
its just an experience. I know self cultivation & realization from the teachings of shakyamuni buddha give the solutions to a blessed blissful life & liberationd. & of cos that's not all.
well, what's done is done. even this is my 'learning process'.
I promise myself to be liberated one day & promise to help & save those whom I love or hated before & also to those who helped guided me & or harmed neglected me before. -

What tradition do you practise, is it Theravada or Mahayana? -
he's been visited by my inlaw families for a long time. I trusted them & moreover I was very curious too. he looked like a lay master to me.

my personal practice at home is mahayana where I hv my own altar of shakyamuni buddha, avalokiteshvara & ksitigarbha. my inlaws have a hierech of theravada buddhist altar. i 'm respecting all equally as one. my main aim I want is cultivation realisation n liberation.
what shld I do? -
yes I did thought abt renounce. but I still hv an aged mum, kid to look after. i'm still very attached to worldly stuff enjoyment , leisure n luxury. i'm not prepared now yet.

Men has 7 times to renounce and return to lay life and back forth, but women has only 1 time. If you renounce and return to lay life and want to return, you are not allowed. Its stated in the Vinaya.
Maybe you would want to make an aspiration to lead the life of a mendicant in your next life. -

The way to respect the Buddha is by practising the Dhamma he had taught us.
Before his final Nirvana, all the monks came to pay their respect to him for the last time, but only one monk did not. He thought that by attaining Arahanthood is the best respect to the Buddha. The Buddha, upon hearing this, said excellent, excellent. -

in every life, one is bound to be either male or female.
I suspect I was a female in my previous life lol.
Being female is considered good as females are not likely to commit as much evils as compared to males. Being a female has it inconveniences, like menstruation and being derided by males and other views on women, not to mention rapes and molest committed against females. -

I don't know wats 108 kata. still searching.
i'm still feminine vain like any woman. but have this funny guts like a male where when I was in sec2 I gave a rose to a guy I like in front of his class n said I like him. wanting to try skydiving n just being myself naturally not trying to act cute which guys don't like.
we all hv some qualities of male n female in us naturally somehow. -

108 refers to 108 distresses. Monks usually wear mala strings of 108 beads.
Lay man usually wear 18-beads mala, refering to 18 Dhatus. -

i have a 28 beads mala i always use to chant mantras. am i having the correct numbers of mala?

In singapore there is some thai Buddhist temple , u can ask Palelai temple or
