If you see a sexy and a pretty lady in the street, mrt and at shopping malls, what is your first reaction?
I bet guys would stare at the lady, from head to top first, then keep on staring and begin to fantasize or get to know the lady.
My reaction will be a typical of a guy hahaha. It would be nice if I can get to know the lady and get her contact number. -
I won't stare. I am a healthy adult male mind you, its just that pretty ladies are too often too self-concious. They are only too aware of their own beauty and expects others to stare and be captivated by them. The most attractive type of girl to me is not the knock-down, drop-dead gorgeous type, but rather the type that is not aware of their beauty... -
As I grow and become more mature. After getting to know more lady friends (some knock-out georgous), I don't find knock-out nap-shot ladies that very attractive anymore.
Simple is beautiful. Experiences do count, I think. I've made some foolish acts while I was a little younger. I do hope I can maintain and improve my current good lifestyle. It made me more matured in thinking now.
I must admit, I am still not about the distinguish the lust xi qi. But I am now more able to disengage it more often than before. Still I hope to improve on this more. -
You have to be an Arya-person (enlightened) or someone who is very serious in cultivation to be able to avoid lust. I am not yet... although many I do have dharma friends who are really cultivating very well. They are mentally not affected usually.
Those who have not started practising or cultivating, no chance of avoiding lust one... unless he's those 'asexual' type who has no interest in girls. -

I wouldnt want to be in that kind of situation... so if renounce, must renounce completely. -
As I have mentioned a few times, I notice when I do regular meditation, it does help a lot in reducing the amount of wandering thoughts and lusts. So if a person wants to quit that, he should do regular meditations.
Of course not practise doesnt mean need to meditate a lot, and in fact meditation isnt for everyone, and also, practise isnt just in meditation. Sitting meditation is only 1 out of 84000 dharma doors. Cultivation is 24/7. -

this body give us nothing but impurities like ear wax, faeces ,urine, nose discharge ,saliva and spleen liquid ..
Of wat use is this body when we fall ill, it is really hard to wake up from our bed due to a weak body
thus realising this , our body is source of our physical suffering
a stinking corpse or white bones walking down the streets
thus reflect upon , you will understand this is just a deception we made ourself to console us for a limited time .

in buddhism, cultivation also include eradicating self-serving habbits and other addictive indulgence. all are somehow inter-connected. its mind control so don't underestimate such mindfulness, mind power.
so agree?..... wanking can be a habbit / arise from desire / thoughts / see something arousing...? aren't they in your MIND? which being do not have a mind? even when u are reading this, aren't u picturing something in your mind? -

i'm also battling with lust everytime. it ain't easy......
i still have so much fear in me. sometimes i feel i'm brave enough sometimes i feel i'm very afraid. maybe some might not look at this being related to the topic "lust".
lust..... some afraid of if letting go lust is to miss out a great deal of fun & leisure. lust may not be necessary sex or intimacy it can be anything that u desire. maybe recognising that "that" was lust and not forcefully erasing it but by looking at it and letting it go not holding on...naturally. it will still come back again and again. so it ain't easy. this road to enlightenment is like a maze! its an on going process. doesn't mean now u have conquest the temptation of lust, u can handle the next one. no one knows whats next! -

many aeons of lusts as a sentient being, whether as animal or humans, its takes aeons to perfect overcoming of lust also.
does deva has lusts as well? -

Deva have lust? Definitely... if you are speaking of the 6 heavens within the 'Sensual Plane'. The Jhana planes have surpassed the lust for sensual pleasures, but there is still attachment to the Form and Formlessness. -

Devas do make love as far as I know, but maybe in a different way?
If you can practise, you can attain liberation this lifetime. Do not think that it is impossible because so many have attained enlightenment.
A single lamp dispels the darkness of a thousand aeons;
Likewise, a single flash of the mind's clear light

When you see a beautiful woman, practise the dharma. But that doesnt mean you cannot see the beautiful woman, and you know she is beautiful.
In terms of five skhandas, The FORM is there, the FEELINGS (6 senses) are there, but thats where you stop.
Had you continued from there, Perceptions and Volition would be form. Thats when you start to have an affection of her, then later proceed to think of ways to get her phone number and so on.
If we cultivate, we will not be affected by perceptions and volitions.
If we perceive all dharmas (phenomena) as equal and empty, 5 skhandas are all emptied. -

Remember one of the pretty daughters of Mara used as a metaphor for lust, greed and aversion?
Correct me if I am wrong but even when Siddhattha was an ascetic sitting under the bodhi tree and moments before his enlightenment, he still had these defilements though in very minor strands.
As for wad u said Marc, I think it's just normal reaction. A beautiful gril walks pass, it is only human nature to take notice but almost split second later I will think she's nothing else because i know of someone more beautiful in my heart. -

For heart pride and delusion take over them,

the lower realms. The destruction of the realms of humans and
gods and the obliteration of kalpas by the three disasters will
not reach them, for they are among those born in the Tushita
Heaven.
Heaven of bliss by transformation.
Sutra:
"Those who are devoid of desire, but who will engage in it
for the sake of their partner, even though the flavor of doing so
is like the flavor of chewing wax, are born at the end of their
lives in a place of transcending transformations. They are
among those born in the Heaven of Bliss by Transformation.
Heaven of the comfort from others' transformations.
Sutra:
"Those who have no kind of worldly thoughts while doing
what worldly people do, who are lucid and beyond such activity
while involved in it, are capable at the end of their lives of
entirely transcending states where transformations may be
present and may be lacking. They are among those born in the
Heaven of the Comfort from Others' Transformations.
Sutra:
"Ananda, all those in the world who cultivate their minds
but do not avail themselves of dhyana and so have no wisdom,
can only control their bodies so as to not engage in sexual
desire. Whether walking or sitting, or in their thoughts, they
are totally devoid of it. Since they do not give rise to defiling
love, they do not remain in the realm of desire. These people
can, in response to their thought, take on the bodies of Brahma
beings. They are among those in the Heaven of the Multitudes
of Brahma.
In the Six Desire Heavens, this is the bliss they take to be true. "In
the Heaven of the Four Kings and the Trayastrimsha, desire is
carried out through embracing." They conduct sexual affairs the
same way people do. "In the Suyama Heaven they hold hands; in
the Tusita they smile." The beings in the Suyama Heaven unite in
mind, but not physically. All they have to do to fulfill their sexual
longing is to hold hands. In the Tusita Heaven, they smile. There's
no physical contact involved. "In the Bliss by Transformation, they
gaze. In the Comfort from Others', a glance will do." Men and
women in the Bliss by Transformation Heaven need only look at
one another  they don't even have to smile. They stare at each other for maybe three minutes or five minutes; that's how their
sexual intercourse is completed. In the next heaven a brief glance is
sufficient. An instant is all it takes. The higher the heaven, the
lighter the thoughts of sexual desire.
This is a true principle; you should understand it clearly. Once
you do, you'll be able to genuinely understand the Buddhadharma,
for you will know that sexual desire is tremendously harmful. Do
you remember the earlier passage in the Sutra that says Bodhisat-
tvas look upon sexual desire as they would a poisonous snake?
They know they will be bitten to death. People's ordinary flesh-
eyes cannot see how fierce it is. That's why they spend all their
time, day and night, thinking about this nasty thing. They can't put
it down. If you really understood, I think you wouldn't be so
confused and upside down about it.

is it normal to be distracted by lust or tempted by lust while cultivating....? during the moments when you are doing nothing or in contact with things and people..., then suddenly that "lust" pops up like unexpectedly.
what a challenge.....
i mean lust in any forms like lusting for material stuff like branded goods, buying that something like a luxurious home or sleek furniture set or the high-tech sound system you so long for or someone you like alot......
what happens when a person cultivating and falls into the lust ambush? efforts will be wasted? that person falls back a step behind and have to double climb up again?
can a married man or woman who are still with their marriage, still showing love and concern for their kids and spouse and close people around them, attain enlightenment & liberation in a pure way?
are there people in this world who are cultivating and still fall into lust? why is lust difficult to control for some people while it is easy for some others? (attachments?) able to control lust means cultivation is strong and stable? if cannot control lust means cultivation not good enough?
after all we are humans.....
and i wanna add on is that.... indeed the human realm is the most challenging realm to cultivate and train to attain enlightenment that i believe the devas and lower realms respect and long to be in human realms as well.
as much as i could reach out, i'll surely hope and will help guide teach them attain enlightenment when one day i become enlightened.
