Khunu Lama Rinpoche.One thing that really helps us complete these two collections is the ability to foresee the future; therefore, we should try to acquire clairvoyance. Without it, we are like a baby bird whose wings are undeveloped and has not yet grown feathers and remains stuck in its nest, unable to fly. Without clairvoyance, we cannot work for other sentient beings.
and also been wondering if there's a good fortune teller who can see past lifes? feel like wanting to try the method as quoted.
36-37. The person who has achieved the psychic power to foresee the future can create more merit in a day than a person without this ability can create in a hundred years. Therefore, to complete the collections of merit and transcendent wisdom quickly, it is necessary to acquire the psychic power to see past, present and future.
38. In order to do this, it is necessary to achieve single-pointed concentration [Skt: samadhi; Tib: ting-nge-dzin]. For this, we must understand the details of the method of attaining samadhi, such as the nine stages, the six powers and the four mental engagements.5
39. In order to practice samadhi meditation properly, we must ensure that the conditions are perfect. If they are not, then even though we try practicing it hard for even a thousand years, we’ll never achieve it. Therefore, we should find a perfect environment, remain quiet and avoid having to do work such as healing the ill and making astrological predictions—any activity that keeps us busy.
40. The way to meditate to attain single-pointed concentration is to focus our mind on a virtuous object, such as an image of the Buddha. We visualize such an image in front of us and simply concentrate on that. As we focus our mind on the object again and again, we’ll be able to hold it for increasingly greater periods of time, and through the continuity of such practice will eventually attain calm abiding [Skt: shamatha; Tib: shi-né] and single-pointed concentration. Thus we will gain “higher seeing” [Tib: ngön-she], the psychic power to see the future and so forth.
41-43. But that is not the point. Next we have to practice penetrative insight [Skt: vipashyana; Tib: lhag-tong]. Without it, our samadhi cannot remove our delusions. In order to eradicate our two levels of obscuration—the obscurations of delusion [Skt: kleshavarana; Tib: nyön-drib] and the obscurations to knowledge, or omniscience [Skt: jneyavarana; Tib: she-drib]—we must achieve the wisdom realizing the non-self-existence of the I. Doing so also depends upon achieving method, such as compassion and so forth. It’s a mistake to practice only wisdom and not method. This can lead us to fall into individual liberation, or lower nirvana. Similarly, practicing only method and not wisdom is also a mistake and causes us to remain in samsara.

So far I have not encounter any arts that can see past lifes
The only books I know that have knowledge about past lifes is the 3 lifetime book or "san si shu" and the "reverse purple star chart" 
this book is very rare

Khunu Lama Rinpoche did not mention about astrological prediction on past life, he said, if you are doing meditation, AVOID doing astrological prediction, and do it in a secluded and quiet place...
Anyway, if you want to see past life, dont need to rely on books... the best way is to SEE for yourself... even if you make prediction using book, it is still doubtable, it may not be 100% accurate. If you see for yourself, it is doubtless! You don't doubt you drank coffee this morning, you don't doubt you ate dinner just now. Meditation is able to access memories with even greater clarity than as mentioned. But of course, we shldnt practise meditation just for the purpose of retrieving memories, and even if we remember past life, Thusness have warned, many will not be able to understand the full meaning of it, and cope with it. -

i have come across few people could tell your past lives by just focussing on your auras or i don't know what they call it. but franky i'm sceptical about this, i mean truthfully. untill i experience it personally myself, will i only know who is more true. to see it for yourself is more worth and accurate than by other people seeing for you. its good to have an open mind all the time without expectations and without clinging onto anything.
about people predicting your future lives is like you lose control of your own destiny. it becomes self-prophesized life when it actually may not 100% happen, but you think and cling on too much to it that it becomes true.
perhaps i might not even be able to understand the meaning if one day i manage to meditate and travel back in time recalling past events.... i don't know....
my purpose of meditation is mainly to purify my mind and reach a higher state of awareness and in luminosity of being. whether i'll have clairvoyance or not or able to go back to past lives or not, i just take it a step at a time and if they come, i'll accept them just as they are. -

Test out what method? I don't see Khunu Lama Rinpoche asking people to look for a fortune teller
the advantage is as follow, if one is clairvoyance.

but of coz, it's not a must. anyway, it's hard to put down work and go stay in a stressless place for certain time.
i heard before Ven Hai tao was ordained, He went to see a few fortune tellers, and all of them told him the same thing that His previous lifes had left home before and that He's going to leave home in this life too.
ps: btw am more interested in those that can see previous lifes one, rather than fengshui, astrology, zodiac etcs...

In the past my shi fu used to do that... people want to know past life, he doesn't just tell them, even if he could. He let them see for themselves. First, he ask them to stare at a blank, white wall. Then he asked them to chant a mantra (which i dont know what mantra it is), the past life images will appear to him. A lot of ppl have done that, but later, he stopped doing that after one incident.. whereby a couple who is already not in good terms, after seeing their past lives, start quarelling with each other, insulting each other. -

then i guess, one have to stress on wisdom and insight to go hand in hand before having such ability.
i think the advantage of creating more merit, Khunu Lama Rinpoche gave is one become clairvoyance of past present and future karma himself rather than asking people to see just the past life for them. as if one knows that what one do unwholsomely NOW is going to effect the future, one will be more careful.

I have met a fortune teller who could see the past lives, too with the astrological stuff. When she told me about my past lives, many of the things and questions in my life and of my life got clear and I started to understand.

i think the place needs to be 'perfect' as lama suggested, if not acheiving clairvoyance is not easy.In order to practice samadhi meditation properly, we must ensure that the conditions are perfect. so, 30 min a day or a quiet room might not work so easily. one even have to stop working and keep away from activities such as tv, internet, radio, newspaper etcs. Some thing like 'da fo-qi' (7 days Buddha recitation retreat), but a lot more than 7 days.

erm.. im into fortune telling since 13....
actually to b frank.. my ability to see pass life only attain 4 yrs ago...
to be frank...seeing past lives is not one of the package in fortune telling..
the traditional method such as zhi wei dou shu n zhi ping ba zhi
doesnt allow u to see a person past life..
even the so call san shi shu...can only brieflly..point out abit of ur past lives...n the accuracy.. erm...rather low...
all methods of fortune telling r actually ways to dicipher the birth code of a person meaning ur time n date of birth...
it can only give the main frame of ur life.. but not all...
to c past lives.. u really need something more...
we call it shu ming tong... its a ability that can b attain by the ways discrible in this tread 1st post.. i truely agreed...
erm.. i hv been practising 3rd eye charkra meditation.. n with the help of my kunmantong...i manage to rise my energy level...of such shen tong...
but to b frank.. till today..my this shen tong is still at a very vulnerable stage..
i can only perform it.. when im truely calm...n also when my kunmantong is obiedient....
as till 2day im still anormal being.. neither do i hv attain arahat status...
my yr of cultivations is rather low...only 10 yrs plus..
i can do it mainly becos of my kunmantongs n maybe abit of my affinity aquired 3 lives ago...
usually i after i hv done my analysis for my client ba zhi.. i will try to meditate n on it...
then pics of this person past lives will appear in my mind.. its not like a movie... erm only shots of his past life appear in my mind...n i can only roughly make up from it.. wat its reflecting in this life....
so far from my own understanding.. the acurracy is abt 60%..cos sometimes the shots i very meaningless....
hwever at time.. i do fail...i realise some ppl ba zi hv hidden barrier.. meaning that it hv some protecting energy there preventing ppl to penetrate.... -
