A person's life can be symbolically viewed in a 'book' during clairvoyant vision or dream. This book has been called the Book of Life or akashic record. I have seen mine before... however, much of it had been blanked off from my conscious memory now.
All i can say is that life is not our 'sense of self's doing... but neither is one helpless to the working of 'fate/destiny'.
All in the world is a 'symbolic' display... Meaning overlayed on 'meaning-lessness'.

interestingly, Ven Hai Tao mentioned that if one can recite the Ksitigarbha Sutra many times, one can also attain clairvoyance of previous lifes.
and there is also a mantra for this too.

even the so call san shi shu...can only brieflly..point out abit of ur past lives...n the accuracy.. erm...rather low...
all methods of fortune telling r actually ways to dicipher the birth code of a person meaning ur time n date of birth...
it can only give the main frame of ur life.. but not all...

erm.. i hv been practising 3rd eye charkra meditation.. n with the help of my kunmantong...i manage to rise my energy level...of such shen tong...
but to b frank.. till today..my this shen tong is still at a very vulnerable stage..
i can only perform it.. when im truely calm...n also when my kunmantong is obiedient....
as till 2day im still anormal being.. neither do i hv attain arahat status...
my yr of cultivations is rather low...only 10 yrs plus..
i can do it mainly becos of my kunmantongs n maybe abit of my affinity aquired 3 lives ago...
usually i after i hv done my analysis for my client ba zhi.. i will try to meditate n on it...
then pics of this person past lives will appear in my mind.. its not like a movie... erm only shots of his past life appear in my mind...n i can only roughly make up from it.. wat its reflecting in this life....
so far from my own understanding.. the acurracy is abt 60%..cos sometimes the shots i very meaningless....
hwever at time.. i do fail...i realise some ppl ba zi hv hidden barrier.. meaning that it hv some protecting energy there preventing ppl to penetrate....
Those shorts will come to become clearer as you practice to be more netural or baseless. Eventually it will become like movies. Then further to it, even feelings, emotions, thoughts of the subjects are deeply felt by the mediatating person.
To see other people's aura that is not related to you is easiler then seeing someone related or closer to youself. To see self is even more difficult.
If you can practice without your "kunmantong". Many monks, people did that without "kunmantong". At minimum "Zhen Teng", Directly Achiving it yourself.
Fully agreed that without this pass informations it's very difficult to give proper advise to people. -
This seeing ability is like opening your eyes to see
I "open" my eyes and I see what is in my view so don't need to ask others' permission
People always wanted to hear about the good things
Who will want to hear bad things
Anyway what's past is past, what's important is NOW

seeing past lives is also 1 of the 6 powers -
Seeing past life is simple, yet it cannot be done casually for human. Except for monks cultivating towards buddhahood, what's the purpose of mere human to see past lives? Isn't it to show off to other people?
In fact there are many people who had seen their past lives, through various methods such as hypnosis and meditations, whilst others are bornt with such abilities. There has been such recorded cases in the West also. -

i think Buddha often look at people's past when chosing a medicine/method to liberate any particular being who's condition is reap/ready. It's also part of the Ten Powers of bodhisattva/Buddha.

Seeing into others who are requesting for advise is having permission to their library. Like a patient went to see a doctor. Doctor needs to check patient's conditions before can derive method(s) to help. Doctor don't go onto the street & start checking everyone.
If you can "See" others & not been affected by it. By all means keep seeing, chances will be lost again in the sea of informations flowing to you. At minimum lost precious time & concentration energy. Normally when started to have this abilities the practitioner are very easily be affected by this informations. Those informations exhibit emotions, words, happenings experianced "inside" can affect practitioner's progress. It will keep graping into this state of mind, raise ego, stir emotions & throw the practitioner off track.
Many practitioner do not exhibit / show their abilities because of the followings:
They don't want to be seen as something un-usual/strange of them.
It will stir religion propblems & lead people to superstition or wrong believes.
Even the "true" was told, it may not be accepted.
It will create problems for the practitioner as more & more people will come forward to ask for pass/future informations to their advantage (Greed). -

actually whenever i see ppl past lives... the mindset im hving is to know wat was karmic issue that causes my client to hv behaviour or thinking that landed him into bad state....
i need to to noe the lie gen xing... so as to zhan cao chu gen for my client...
a typical fortune teller will never nid to do this step..
i include this step.. becos i believe..
fortune telling is not jus about telling........or knowing...
its should b curing..........a treatment consultation for the seeker...
a person character n behaviour contribute alot to a person destiny..
inorder to direct a person to a so call smoother path...
we need to know wat cause the behaviour n hw to change the adverse behaviour...
oni thru shu ming tong.. we will undertsand the the karma of the seeker n n wat is the best effective method to change the person character n behaviour.. -
that's also why some disciples are afraid that their masters can see through them, so they are extra careful not to break the rules.

I dont think there is any specific sutras that talks about recalling past life, but generally if you want to recall past life yourself meditation is the best way and you need to seriously meditate - not just a few times, or meditate with music etc. Serious meditation.Originally posted by TWE:Erm i really wish to know my past life . and with her current stage, it is not advisable to know about reincarnation and past life regression.

anyway not to indugle into such thing first, it will not be fruitful for practice.
Other than understand your past life, which may help if you know certain specific remedies, you should learn and practise the dharma in your life. In this way your wisdom will grow. You will not be attached and will know how to react appropriately to situations at all times.
My Taiwanese teacher (himself very powerful) prohibits his students from cultivating any sort of Supernatural Powers until they attained Prajna wisdom. It may distract that person from cultivating inner wisdom, because too engrossed and attached to wanting to know about things out there. Also powers without wisdom can sometimes cause trouble.
Maybe sound a little contradictory to the first post by Sinweiy But... that is my teacher's way.. I am not too sure about other teachers. -

The etc includes Samadhi and Wisdom.
In short, keep your precepts, develope samadhi (concentration/one pointedness) and develope wisdom.

He, however, realised that there were those who devoted to yogic exercises to acquire supernatural powers. the Global economy have changed
You dunt just have one past lives ,but infinite past lives
As what i mean by Global economy change ,is that Japan ,Korea , Philippines ,European countries ,Singapore and even China have unemployment problem
companies have fallen due to increasing global competition ,and it indeed is not a easy time for many
I am also having low pay ,and alot of things is also unsmooth ,things will change if you continue to accumulate good merit
Just do repentance often , your luck will change
we cant see all of our past lives , due to our limited ability in the spiritual faculty
maybe you can choose a Bodhisattva and recite repentance verse often ,It will slowly change your luck

The Sutra which Ven master Meng Chan (Seeking in Dream) mentioned is the the Foretelling of the Karmic Fruit of Good and Evil Sutra
(Chan Cha ye bao cha bie shan e jing)
and that part where you see in your past live may not be the complete picture...
remember our affinity and enmity, unsmooth in life have something to do with
many many lifetimes before in the past

And also - just because we are now very well, live a happy life, doesnt mean we did not do anything bad before. We should understand that rebirth is just like dreams appearing out of our alaya consciousness. Sometimes we have nightmares sometimes we have sweet dreams. Our karma stems not only from one or two lifetimes ago, but can also be thousands or even aeons of lifetimes ago. It is deep in our alaya consciousness. That is why it can be rather 'scary' for someone unenlightened like me. We can never be certain what's next!
Which is also why it is very important to liberate - at least to 'Enter the stream' (stream-enterers do not enter the 3 lower realms and is destined to attain Arhantship within 7 lifetimes) or enter the Path of Seeing (1st Bhumi Bodhisattva). -

Tat's the reasons i'd posted here,not there, to warn him abt baby spirits...we should not keep these kmt but set them free as soon as possible thru monks or the righteous way...moreover,they r still babies easily loose control from their masters or whoever...thinking own them n keep them in ur hm...my ...
accumulate good merits 4 them...this is an excuse...everybody has own karmas n merits..only thru proper channel of chantings could help them reborn in samsara world...and they are not outcast energy fr three realms...they were still beings as before...

Hmm but I seriously do not know much about KMT. More of Thailand practise I guess.
I personally do not think we should keep spirits, but it is a right thing to chant for the deceased so if it becomes a spirit it can reborn in higher realms - like human realm. If still in bardo stage (within 49 days) the chance of rebirth is higher. If not may require a master to liberate them.
But anyway... regarding this pls continue discussion elsewhere
