Joining together to Promote Meditation through MotionBy Master Sheng Yen

I am delighted that you have joined us to learn the Dharma Drum's Eight-Form Moving Meditation, a practical form of meditation and exercise that can be practiced anywhere and by anyone. It is not enough that you should acquire this technique just for yourself; you should also actively promote it.
Based on personal experience, I know these movements to be genuinely useful. This is why I have the confidence to share them with you. If, after you have followed these lessons, you feel that these techniques are beneficial to your health, then you should make a compassionate vow to promote the Eight Forms among others. If you study these forms with a selfish attitude, or with merely a tentative attitude, then you are unlikely to continue practicing this moving meditation. You need to study and promote these forms in the spirit of a bodhisattva, hoping that all other people can share the same physical and mental well being, to derive true benefit from them.
To truly promote this moving meditation, we should all practice it enthusiastically and on a daily basis. Once you have mastered it, then each time you begin to practice the Eight Forms, rising blood pressure will return to normal at once and impulsive emotion will be calmed. Consequently, you will be able to face any situation with a serene mind.
For the benefit of humanity, I hope that everyone can bring forth the bodhi-mind and take a compassionate vow to practice the Dharma Drum's Eight-Form Moving Meditation.
