Vesak Day Celebration

  Hi All,
  
  Due to working on Vesak Day. I celebrated Vesak Day on eve of the holy day.
  I visited Wat Ananda at Bukit Merah. We went round the temple chanting
  Iti Pi So...( The Triple Gems Chanting) lead by chief abbot and other monks and
  continued with evening chanting. The temple opened 24hrs on that day and monks has to rotate till morning to bless worshippers.

  I was in Malaysia for the weekends
  
  So didnt do much, but saw on the Malaysian papers
  
  A local Buddhist association there gave out some five to eight scholarships to needy students, and they didnt care who they gave it out to, as long as they are qualified. The beneficiaries turned out to be Malay Muslims. Kudos to those peeps.

  ju shi lin? I live next to it...up the slope next to the temple

  My Vesak Day: Early in the morning wake up go dharma centre, sing praises for Buddha, and the usual 'bathe the baby buddha' ceremony , practise a guided meditation led by my dharma teacher.. then after that walk across the street to the huge ABC tentage, looked around, then later go to Palelai Temple which is near my house, grabbed some books and later went to orchard rd.

  Ju Shi Lin has got a very nice AMiTabha Golden Statue. Very fortunate if you are staying near JSL.

  I am not Buddhist actually, but having lived there all my life I can almost recite all the chants although I have no idea what they mean. I asked one of my neighbours who go there everyday for the the chanting but she does not know either.
