Look....I'm not really interested in Tibetian demise or perceived suffering nowadays... because I know most of them living in Tibet are certainly not... I am not easily fooled by massive propaganda by exiled tibetians are doing thru out the internet... and how things are spinned .. especially with C!A involvement. There still may be imprisonments and torture in Tibet.. which China is infamous for, then again they are activist and insurgents. US also sents these types people to Gitzmo and Abu garib... you know
The reason I say this is that, I have grown up and is considered very alert and aware of history on how the C!A operate thru out history.. esp in the latin America. Their activities are very well documented.
The very reason is that in those days of the PLA incursion into Tibet.. C!A is heavily involved... because of the Cold war with Russia and China, which is communism. Tibet at those days, were eyed by both India, Russia and of course China.. which Tibet is a long time Vassal state. This being said Tibet was never a Soveriegn nation at all.
Just like the Exiled Iraqis stinct in the recent collaspe of "Iraqi Freedom".. the US are now using Exiled Iranian in their usual propaganda tactics against the Iranian Regime - The Shah faction... which was historically notorious.... My take is that they have supported Exiled Tibetian the same way... esp in those cold war days. Many exiled Tibetian are in US and India.
I have, sort of, partake in disscussion regarding the Lamas deploring history before - that was a long time ago... and basically, not realy interested in them now. But I am sure most of the Exiled Tibetian belongs to the Elite class... just google wisely or go to the library. American propaganda media power is truly frightening.
Those of you who are interested may read this article.... It had references to their relevant quotes which you may research upon.... It's up to you to decide.. I just did a simple google search.. and I'm not a Chinese National. Even ancient Chinese literature depicts the status behaviour of these monks. But I truly believe that the Average Tibetian in Tibetn ow are better off with China than India or Russia or under a puppet govt of USA. History under the later will always be a Banana Republic.

from most Tibetan traditions vcd i watched, Urgyen Trinley Dorje (Da bao fa wang) had become vegetarian. He said he used to like eating meat, but He said He must stop, as He's supposed to practice compassion for beings.
His Eminence Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche had never eaten meat.
He said to eat meat is to eat your parent's meat, and there's karma, (if u see what happen to Tibet). He strongly encourage vegetarian to a person who are in the organisation of a Buddhist society to set good example. if not karma of propagation and common karma of killing will crash.

It's a interpretation of Old Tibetian History contrary to yours... white washing it with reason such as "not recognised by the Buddhist Forum of Compassion Affinity and Buddha_Mandala_Blessings'... is indeed a cheap shot.. and does not reflect history at all. While you yourself went ahead and criticise other points/regime. Instead of countering the so-called half truth and distortion of faith.. what's your proof.. you choose censoring... I even took heart not to quote anything from the Chinese website.. as you said are bias. Those reference were made by western travellers who were there in those Era.

Actually the focus should not be on the Lama right from the start. Because the Lama is still a person. Whatever enquiry should all be referenced directly from the Sutra and not individuals. The Buddha had already mentioned this to us more than 2500 year ago that we should strictly follow the authentic Dharma teachings and not any individual.
So, from Buddhist point of view, whether Lama should or should not eat meat. I think it is more approriate to let their community decide. This I think is more respectful. Whatever the consequences, be it wholesome or unwholesome, let the Karma dictates.
Not just about Lama, we must SHUI SHUN, but also individuals from different Schools, Faith, Race and belief-system, we must respect and SHUI SHUN. To be at peace not only with myself, my community and the world at large and the Universe.

Have you been to Tibet ? Have compared life now in Tibet to India's ? If you have read "Seven Years In Tibet", you would have notice that Tibet was relatively peaceful. While the "Cultural Revolution" Taints Chinese History... many more.. much more had died than monks alone.
While one cannot forget the past, one have to learn to forgive. Do not white wash old Tibet's past.... with paradise.. which is notThis is Wisdom Bliss ,not Wisdom Blame ... mind you

past is past..... forgive but don't forget cos we must remember the lessons and try not to repeat mistakes again. then again, trying is not enough, we ought not to repeat the mistakes again.
forget is also not bringing them along with us but we are also always aware of the consequences that happened to those who suffered. thats when the apportunities for the heart and mind to practice benevolence and compassion comes in..... cultivation is the steps.... mastery is the ultimate.
we are not dead. we are still alive. -
