  Hi, just to understand why some Buddhists can eat beef and why some cannot.
  Is it that they are from different school of thoughts? Please expound. Thanks

  i quit eating beef since 1998. due to not enough proper knowledge about buddhism then, i took a vow with bodhisattva avalokiteshvara that i'll never consume beef ever again.
  
  it used to be my fav meat.
  
  a vow is a vow, i'll still honour it.

  for muslims, pork is a taboo.
  
  But shd have such beliefs that certain animals cant be eaten, if not humans will slaughter for their meat dun u think so.
  
  Good to have such a beliefs to save these poor animals for their meat or fur.

  i tried to clarify with my friends that buddhist can Eat Beef But he told me his family all practised non-eating beef tradition due to buddhism. This belief is rather deeply-grained. He could of cos believe more in his parents than me.
  
  Then another friend chip into the conversation and told me only deeply-devoted buddhist people DO not eat beef.
