Agreed..Originally posted by longchen:To understand and experience takes much more than just having an interesting mental pursuit. MUCH MUCH MORE. And sometimes, we even enter into the deepest depth of depression and fear along the path. Are you willing to commit to that?
To be honest, many people on this forum are just interested (in Buddhism) as a mental pursuit... like a form of addiction that distracts from ones' inner sense of suffering (temporarily). Truly awakened persons will not write to another unnecssarily unless there is an affinity. Because they will have known that in most cases, it is a waste of effort.
Sorry if i sounded unpleasant... but this is the truth.
Can you pls elaborated on that?Originally posted by longchen:And sometimes, we even enter into the deepest depth of depression and fear along the path.

Well there are many things to pray for like peace & healing etc. Not just wealth & good fortune. So u mean praying for wealth & good fortune is NOT stilling the mind?Originally posted by sinweiy:what is it that u pray for? wealth? good fortune?

Praying is not. Having Faith in God is. You can pray to anything and you can also pray to a version of God.Originally posted by ICanOnlyHope:Is praying to God an example of stilling the mind & heart?
