Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche is known to use modern technology for teaching his students. His teachings are often transmitted over the Internet as audio and video webcasts. I bought them from Taka Kinokuniya under Buddhism section.
About the Golden Letter. It is a very important book. It contains the transmission by Garab Dorje to his principal disciple before dissapearing in the body of light. This book also attempt to connect western concept of ascension with Dzogchen teaching. Here we can see that how far modern Church-based Christianity has gone off course. No offence to anyone. But Western mysticism is still very similar to Buddhism especially Vajrayana.
About Dzogchen, to me, it is a very mysterious teaching. There are 2 versions of Dzogchen... Buddhist and Bon. Both are essentially the same. However, Bon teaching originates from a Buddha before our historical Buddha. Accordingly, this Buddha call Tonpa Shenrab lived thousands of years ago before our historical Shakyamuni Buddha. Also, Dzogchen teaching is said to be taught in 13 other star-systems as well, to both humans and non-humans.
It seems periodically, there are lineages of physical Buddhas that teaches the same thing. Regardless, all teachings are said to originate from one source Dharmakaya Samanthahadra. -
i enjoy shopping for books at taka kinokuniya, always browse at the buddhism section there too.
i came across a book on dzogchen teaching but due to budget constrain, i didn't buy the last time i visited some time ago. forgot who was the author and stuff, perhaps could be one you, longchen recommended here. -
dzogchen, the word itself gave me a very deep profound mysteriousness as well. i first come across about dzogchen was through lama surya das. it feels like being home..... dzogchen practices a swift flight to direct enlightenment. that was what it captivated my attention and set my mind on training.Originally posted by longchen:About Dzogchen, to me, it is a very mysterious teaching. I have alway sensed that you have a strong Vajrayana/Tibetan influence. It is very likely that you have practice Dzogchen before. Remembered... i said that i seems to know you before?
When I first read a Dzogchen book... I was so excited and happy too. It was like I have found something that i treasured very much before. Later on, an enlightened and psychic friend told me that I have been a 'red-hat sect' Tibetan monk before. This confirms that I have been a Nyingma monk before and have touched upon Dzogchen. I have always had visions of sitting on a vast highland looking out into the spacious sky. My consciousness is in synch with the spacious sky... and it feels good.

Yup paperflower had been more inclined to Vajrayana. Anyway she took refuge under just recently under Ven. Thubten Chodron.

its great to be back home, its the most valuable treasure money can't buy.

when she said that, i had a very comforting yet strange feeling that this didn't sound new to me and that it rang a bell to me for being something familiar i heard of before. heard of as in not like in what i read or hear from people or books. -
