My trip to China in June 2004:

When we arrived at Jiu Hua Shan, the pilgrimage mountain for the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, we had to walk to another hotel because our original hotel was entirely taken by the PRC Government, among them, Jiang Ze Min was there visiting Jiu Hua Shan for the first time. A few of us managed to see Jiang Zemin from our hotel windows.

The trip to the top of the mountain (the main monastery) was a long and tiring journey, and while many of us are fit enough to walk ourselves, that would of course include me

, some of them would rather pay people to carry them up.

Above: Finally reaching the main monastery at Jiu Hua Shan, (among the dozens of monasteries at that mountain which we visited)
There, we did 3-steps-one-bow, and later we managed to speak to the Abbot of the main Jiu Hua Shan monastery. He has spoken to Jiang Zemin before our arrival and said that Jiang Zemin was quite supportive of the development of Buddhism in China.

Outside the monastery, where we gather to do our 3 step 1 bows.
