Does anyone know where this is?
I saw this in a few places but don't know the location. It's amazing.

[b]Merry Meet To All,
This is at Myanmar. There are a few of these in various places. One interesting fact is only males are permitted to be near this Golden Rock, its out of bounds to all females. The pagoda or stupa was attached on it by people suggested by a monk who had this dream, in his dream he was instructed to place a Stupa on the rock. Initially he hesitated worrying that the rock might fall off or people will attempt to do that will fall off. But miraculously, nothing of that happen when they attached the stupa to it. It has become one of the most famous buddhist pilgrimage destination & tourist attraction, You can see People from all over the World praying, lighting candles and putting thin gold leaves on the boulder, which however is only permitted for males. Legend has it that the boulder keeps itÂ’s balance due to a Buddha hair. It is said this Golden Rock is literally floating on air which you can see a gap between the ground & the rock. You can even push a string through it, many people put a money bill under it as a symbolic offering to bring them wealth & prosperity. These rocks are one of the few Mysteries of the World.

If you want peace, then you must use everything in your power to preserve it, including violence.
Originally posted by OCEANOS:Oh I see... hmm if I visit there I will check it out.
[b]Merry Meet Ah boy,
Express Reply today, thats very fast. Well to add on my personal view, the rock is actually hold on by Pure Light from Heaven, the stupa as a symbolic receiver fo this Pure Light Ray thats explain why its literally floating from a metaphysical view.
Myanmar not really my kinda place, Remember i went Laos last year, lots of relics too, more of tiring than fun to me...

Originally posted by OCEANOS:I rather prefer to refer violence as an open option to choose when it can provide the most benefit.
[b]Merry Meet Cutey,
Thats natural at times.
Your definition of Peace may not represent that of Masses. Preservation of what or whom you love by all means is understandable to some but not to all. Violence would be the last option. Make love not war... Hahaha
Such late reply is very disappointing...

Just now I was quite angry in my dream and felt the situation was so real. Then... funny, I suddenly remembered something I saw yesterday and I woke up.Originally posted by paperflower:i had a funny incident recently when sleeping.
it was like the moment i fell asleep i woke up again and a hand appeared beside the bed facing me. looking at the hand i decided to hold it cos i didn't believe it to be real and so i held it and i could actually hold itand it felt warm to the touch but i still wasn't convince enough that it was real and so i further decided to pull it to see what happens. as the thought was going on of pulling the hand, it began to use one of the fingers to press against my skin and i could actually feel the pain when the nails sunk into my skin and the pain seemed like getting stronger and stronger but i still not convinced it was real and went ahead and pulled it. i pulled it hard with strength and at the same woke up from my sleep and there i was holding the tip of my pillow and was actually pulling it instead. i giggled and went back to sleep.
in dream we cannot really grasp anything to be real although they appear as what we see in daily life? then in our awake moment can we grasp anything to be ultimately real like the hand one might perceive to be real in the dream? or maybe if it wasn't the pillow it could be my hubby's handbut it was still not the same hand in the dream. the hand did resemble my own hand. it was like a moment i had a face to face with my ego.
(to add on...)
hhmm... wanting to pull it to see what happens is also an illusive thinking, right? it was trying to convince me that it was real by feeling it's warmth and pain when the nail sinks into my skin and behind the back of the thought i noticed a faint sense of fear trying to creep in when the 2nd part was happening and it fastened my intention to pull it to find out what happens further and how far it goes. but i woke up instead to see pillow instead. frankly, disappointed as it may seem to me which is common in daily life when we can also get disappointed in some things when they don't happen to be true or what we expected at times. but the pillow brought me to the actual moment of what was.
anyone got anything to share?

A Dhamma monument is gradually reaching out to the skies in Mumbai - among the most populated cities of India. It presents an opportunity for each Vipassana meditator to earn merits by participating in a historic structure that will serve as the beacon of Dhamma for centuries to come - The Global Pagoda project on the Essel Plateau in Gorai in Mumbai. The construction of the first stage including the foundation was completed last year. Work on the crucial second stage is progressing at full speed and is expected to finish within months.Minimum donation: $2
The great monument will have a huge meditation hall and a display gallery giving information about the life and the teaching of the Buddha. In external appearance, it will resemble the ShweDagon Pagoda of Myanmar (Burma).
In addition to its functional utility, the Global Pagoda will be an expression of our gratitude: towards the Buddha, towards the chain of teachers who preserved the Dhamma in its pristine purity, towards the country of Myanmar, and towards Sayagyi U Ba Khin.
It is Acharya Shri Goenkaji's wish that every meditator takes part in the construction of the Pagoda. The amount one donates is not important - the volition to contribute is.
The Global Pagoda is being built in stone. You can now choose to make a donation for any number of stones, even one stone. Every meditator in the family can feel joyful that he or she has donated for this great monument.
Donations qualify under Section 80.G of the Income Tax Act in India. The foreign donors should contact the Treasurer for clarification on tax concessions in their countries.

If you can perceive one sensation per second, try for two. If you can perceive two unique sensations per second, try to perceive four. Keep increasing your perceptual threshold in this way until the illusion of continuity that binds you on the wheel of suffering shatters. In short, when doing insight practices, constantly work to perceive sensations arise and pass as quickly and accurately as you possibly can. With the spirit of a racecar driver who is constantly aware of how fast the car can go and still stay on the track, you are strongly advised to stay on the cutting edge of your ability to see the impermanence of sensations quickly and accurately.Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha, Adobe/.pdf version, by Arhat, Dharma Dan

These meditation objects and postures are not that important, but understanding impermanence directly is.

I sometimes meditate when reclining before sleep, when reclining in the morning
before I have to get up, when I wake up in the middle of the night, before catnaps on the couch, during boring lectures and meetings, and in the lounge of the school I attend before afternoon classes. I have come to the conclusion that five minutes of really engaged, clear and focused practice in poor circumstances can often produce more benefits for me than an hour of poor, vague and distracted practice in “optimal conditions.”
I have found that if I repeatedly ask those who start talking with me about dharma practice the questions, “What do you really want and why?” and, “What would you be willing to do to get that?” I usually come to the conclusion that they are not really interested in the things I am interested in (i.e. the things mentioned in this book), and thus I can turn the conversation to other topics and avoid wasting our time. Those few who do share some of my interests are my dear companions in what I call The Dharma Underground, and for them I am extremely grateful.
