Consider carefully what is important to you one by one... then one by one detach from them... mentally detach and not physically detach.Originally posted by Cenarious:something that will start taking me to enlightenment
Although I agree with you that to gain enlightenment, removing attachment is very essential, the method you've mentioned is pretty abstract. I guess the biggest attachment one have is I or ME.Originally posted by casino_king:Consider carefully what is important to you one by one... then one by one detach from them... mentally detach and not physically detach.
Hint: the most difficult ones to detach from are the "conceptual" "mental" "spiritual" "moral" and "ethical" attachments (not in any particular order.)
Takes time, lots of "suffering" and courage, my friend.
You want enlightenment or the abilities that comes with it?Originally posted by Cenarious:something that will start taking me to enlightenment

Will you misuse the abilities?Originally posted by Cenarious:both
When people become enlightened, they naturally become compassionate... you are talking about different things when you say that the abilities might result in harm.Originally posted by maggot:For someone with abilities...a slight change of mood will affect a lot of things and when that happens there's no turning back.

Being enlightened is one matter, gaining the enlightenment is another. Being compassionate is different from having compassion.Originally posted by casino_king:When people become enlightened, they naturally become compassionate... you are talking about different things when you say that the abilities might result in harm.
There are many other ways to get the abilities other than through enlightenment.
Being compassionate and doing compassionate deeds are two different things.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Being enlightened is one matter, gaining the enlightenment is another. Being compassionate is different from having compassion.

Exact sentiments.Originally posted by casino_king:Being compassionate and doing compassionate deeds are two different things.
A compassionate person might very well do things that according to the "rules" and "precepts" are prohibited.
A person bent on doing what according to rules of compassion is correct might be doing a very uncompassionate deed without his knowing.
Similarly, having abilities and doing things that an enlightened person would do is not enlightenment.
You have the answer, so why ask.Originally posted by casino_king:ahh.... which ME? The human body?
