Regarding this part, I do not think KMT is "belong to Buddhism". First of all, Theravada (nan chuan) is not only include Thai Buddhism. Sri Lanka, Burmese, and so on, also belong to Theravada. Yet they do not practise KMT. Similarly in Theravada Buddhism, not all Theravada practise KMT. For some pure dharma schools of Thai Buddhism like the Forest Sangha/Forest Tradition - the lineage of Ajahn Mun, they do not practise such things at all and also do not recommend them to be practised. If you read about how KMT originated, it is also not originated from Buddhism, Buddha, or Theravada. It is a cultural practise, which later became widespread among Thai buddhists and also monks. But I do not consider it Buddhism or having Buddhist origins.
But anyway this topic shall be closed for now.
