Good idea... Btw r u a programmerOriginally posted by justdoit77:I am thinking of developing an online game about buddhism.
There is a huge group of gamers especially young ones who like to play games, if I can attract them to this website and let them know more about dharma, it will achieve my purpose.
The game must be fun enough to attract people and yet able to teach them dharma. I like to hear from you, what features you like to have in this game.
Any gamers here.
used to be. how about you?Originally posted by neutral_onliner:Good idea... Btw r u a programmer![]()
No. Anyway do u agree tat having a engineering and programming back ground mk 1 easier to understanding BuddhismOriginally posted by justdoit77:used to be. how about you?
I want to write a HTML based game, flash could be used but just as a secondary role. The game should be able to tell the players what are the practise that we buddhists usually do like meditation, chanting, do good deeds, spreading dharma , seek teachers, getting enlightened and so on.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Online game = flash based?
how abt question and ans typeOriginally posted by justdoit77:I want to write a HTML based game, flash could be used but just as a secondary role. and how to present the concept of reincarnation, various traditions of buddhism to them.
The difficult thing is most games are attractive because of the scene of fighting monsters which I don't think I should use this in a buddhism game. Any idea?
Having a programming background make me think more logical, step by step and either yes or no.Originally posted by neutral_onliner:No. Anyway do u agree tat having a engineering and programming back ground mk 1 easier to understanding Buddhism![]()
Maybe I can create a question and answer corner that if answer correctly, the players' knowledge will increase. I will make it editable like in wikipedia for other buddhist to update the question and answer periodically.Originally posted by neutral_onliner:how abt question and ans type![]()
agree. the problem is our conceptual mindOriginally posted by justdoit77:Having a programming background make me think more logical, step by step and either yes or no.
It helps to certain extent, but it also gives me a habit of thinking within a boundary, which may not be good. Try thinking something in mind without using your mother tongue, it is not easy.
Not a bad ideaOriginally posted by justdoit77:Maybe I can create a question and answer corner that if answer correctly, the players' knowledge will increase. I will make it editable like in wikipedia for other buddhist to update the question and answer periodically.

wow, very good idea. thanks dude.Originally posted by TWE:Hey how abt a rpg theme where the player started out as a person trying to find buddhism teachings . Let the environment of the game be like an adventure where the player will go to various part of the world where he will meet buddhist masters , rinpoche who will give them some buddhist teachings and after end of the lessons , there will be a quiz for them to answer and only after passing the quiz then they can proceed to other places to learn more teachings . And of cos along the way they will have various queer encounters which will test them on their knowledge and understanding of the teachings that they have learnt. Any wrong step will have a different result , repeat the course or ending in a different path other then the intended one . And also if they manage to handle " obstacles " correctly , they will have some bonus things to help them on their journey to understand n know more abt buddhism thoroughly for example a gratefull couple informing them of a " hidden " location where there is a sage where they can learn some mantras or sutras " . Is it difficult to program such a game ? Used to be my dream to be a programmer so that i can create a game myself but things din work out that way . sigh !
