Although, Buddha's (and bodhisattvas and pratyekabuddhas and arhats and many great buddhist practitioners) relics are quite special.

Reputable archaelogists have traced how the relics and made sure they are authentic before they are displayed. So when these relics are not verified, the Buddhist committee would disapprove them, for instance, see Relics Expo. This forum also does not recognise that exhibition. Hence, any student participating in events related to practice of this worldly spirit effectively "breaks" one's Refuge Vows and this student effectively becomes a Non-Buddhist, negating the source and root of all Dharmic practices --
