i do find common grounds for both islam n Buddhism but i do not see both as the same yet he says it is the same ... it is not convincing for a true Buddhist to mix other religions into Buddhism.
Learning from and appreciating other religions does not means "all is one and one is all" and certainly does not mean we start propagating other faiths when Buddhism itself is the ultimate way for all sentient beings to Buddhahood.
Should one be reborned in the Pureland thru reciting Amitabha's holy name or by Praising God / Jesus ? Issit by the Vow of Amitabha Buddha or the Grace of God that one to be reborned in the pureland.
This kind of pureland promoted by ven ck does not seems quite right ...
bros n sis here think so ?
dear enci,
Pls do not misunderstood and speculate the wrong meaning of MCK's saying. He do mean that there are common grounds in the major religions and that we should respect them too.
when He is speaking to buddhists, He would also point out the difference IN details. but only when He's in the muilt-religion conference that He point out the common ground so that other religion parties do not think that we Buddhists are extremists! so He's just using skillful means for the target audience at that time.
also note that, if u really want to go indepth into the studies of pureland, you will still see the detail differences from Christianity.
u might want to get the
Inside situation right first before reading wrong informations from the "link". As slandering a Tripitaka master is NOT a kidding matter.
May you be well.
