  Neither. He is a worldly protector of dharma, and buddhists pay due respects to him. However we do not worship guan gong. (and in fact neither do we worship buddha or bodhisattva)
  
  Guan gong's story was quite interesting.. How he vowed to protect the dharma. Will share about it next time, or perhaps other forummers would like to share the story for us..
