You already explained to yourself. Intellectual knowledge is not realisation, so if one does not have an intuitive knowledge but only intellectual knowledge, then one is not realised. Everyone who doesn't have intuitive knowing would know for himself that he doesn't know intuitively, because, he simply doesn't know intuitively. And it's difficult to describe intuitive knowing to someone who doesn't have it.
On the other hand, if you have it, you will have no doubt you have it because it's always there. Like your hand is always there, you can feel it.. or your eye is always here, you can use it to see.
The dharma eye once open, will always be there. And you will know the truth of reality intuitively, just like you can know that there is a computer screen in front of you intuitively, without someone else telling you (that wld be intellectual knowledge), because you can see.
