ok perhaps that photo alone does not have ample evidences for you to provide a complete answer. Anyway Dalai Lama's message needs a very strong message to other people not to support the activities of the organisation. That organisation is raising a lot of money out of that event.
As for merely visiting it, try not to (negative connection) but if you visit it so be it. Just treat it like any other tour in some other countries... where you visit their places of worship etc.
I believe the monk is invited to watch it and it is not so nice to refuse to attend.
