Why meditate?

Hello everyone,
I said:I know what you talking about here, because I had a moment of complete clarity a few day ago.
Let me tell you what I got in that moment of insight.
I saw that all there really is is awareness.
Just awareness.
That there is no "me" to get anything.
That there is nothing to get.
I've been mistakenly identifying with an unfolding story rather than resting in my true nature.
This communication may actually do you a disservice.
Because you may think there is actually something to "get".
And there is.
You can "get" completely that there absolutely nothing to get and no one to get it.
When you "know" this with every fibre of your being, then you've got it!!!

Here a two quotes from Nisargadatta Maharaj that describe my true nature very well:
It is solid, steady, changeless, beginningless and endless, ever new, ever fresh.
To me nothing ever happens. There is something changeless, motionless, immovable, rock-like, unassailable; a solid mass of pure being-consciousness-bliss. I am never out of it. Nothing can take me out of it, no torture, no calamity.

It was a wonderful liberating insight.
I recognized what was being said by Nathan Gill, when he said that all words are not "it". And have nothing to do with "it".
Unless you have the insight, the experience yourself, it is quite useless to talk about it.
So I encourage everyone to go after the insight and stop spending so much time with words.

Changeless kills all the above. The flow and renewing is perpetual and ceaseless. Assigning an extra 'changeless' simply sounds good to the mind that reacts to "momentum" and only in dualistic perception a changeless entity is needed to link the chain of ever becoming. Just the obviousness that never remains and clarity will be most vivid.

Of all ways, the direct way is toughest. Sound simplest but is the most difficult path to walk as it is pathless. When one not only 'sees' the non-duality aspect of awareness but also the 'momentum' aspect, the workings of consciousness will become clearer. Skillful means are devised to suit ppl with differing conditions and all skillful means is to generate enough conditions to lead one to the ultimate understanding of our pristine nature. Effort can still lead to the understanding effortless. -
hi jonls, im in china now and can only offer a short reply. The meditation methods can be seen as 'portals to the unmanifest'. In fact many portal practices taught by eckhart tolle are buddhism's insight meditation, like inner body practices and many more.. Including mindfulness of breathing. Buddha said that practicing mindfulness of breathing will lead to development of the four foundations of mindfulness and thus the practice leads to nirvana/unborn/unmanifest. Merry christmas

Eckhart has said that the new consciousness is emerging directly now.
Of all ways, the direct way is toughest. Sound simplest but is the most difficult path to walk as it is pathless.
I would have to agree with him since this seems to be what is happening.
It is difficult as long as you consider yourself to be the ego, when this is seen through, then it is smoother sailing.
It requires constant surrender and tremendous desire for truth.

Outwardly they may appear as slackers, but inwardly they are truly focused on what they want. This "focusing" comes from the center of their being.
What do you want Eric???

Search within to find how badly you want it.
Is the desire not already there, arising spontaneously?
The trick, as Adyashanti would say, is not to fulfill that desire but rather find out where the desire is coming from. Follow it back to it's source. -

If wanting the truth of your being is not the primary desire within you, then you will be easily sidetracked by anything that comes along and it can pull your attention away from focusing on or feeling your own true nature, which is simply "being". -
If finding the truth of your being is not your main desire, then you cannot make it so yourself.
The truth is, all there is is consciousness.
And consciousness appears to awaken to itself.
If you desire to find the truth more than anything else, this is a sign that consciousness is ready to emerge, to awaken.
It is not something you can do.
Since you do not exist, you are just an idea.
Rather, the fact that your utmost desire is to know the truth of your being is simply a sign that awareness is ready to awaken to itself.
But of course this is all appearance, because nothing really awakens.
Enlightenment simply is.
There has never been a time when it was not.
Enlightenment is simply the apparent dropping of the idea that there is a seeker that needs to find something.
It is done by no one, and you realize there is nothing to do. -
However, you may still think there is something that you must do.
Because as long as you are beleiving the idea that there is a separate you, you are suffering.
So, how to let go of the idea that you are separate, that you are not enlightened?
Search within and find out!!!!
If you don't know how to do this, then that may be very good.
Stay with this "not knowing", embrace it.
It is your ticket to freedom. -

Thoughts are arising.
Can you just watch them Eric.
Instead of identifying with them, believing them? -
So many activities in Religions, Buddhism or otherwise, miss the point completely.
Meditation can promote health but you do not meditate for health benefits.
Meditation can still your mind but you do not meditate to still your mind.
Meditation can help you contemplate and crystallize your thoughts but you do not meditate to crystallize your thoughts.
Meditation can help you control your 'chi' but you do not meditate to ... -
