So please learn from it and not do the same thing to others.Originally posted by NUS_Superst@r:Just finished watching the video. Then, he also keep quoting from the Quran and keep praising Islam as the best religion. The threadstart obviously got some bad motives.![]()
Yes, something I hope you can teach to your fellow buddhist NUS_Superst@r.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Yup... I hope all religions can co exist peacefully on an international scale taking Singapore as a prime example
The person you have quoted has been making similar if not worse comments in the Christian forums as well. Nonetheless, he has apologised, but this only goes to show how misunderstanding can happen across any religion. Our aim should be to promote understanding and harmony between different religions, and not intentionally provoke or cause strife among others.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:lol.. Buddha taught end of suffering, not suffering.

I do not know him well and I think he stated that he isn't completely Buddhist...Originally posted by SumOne:Yes, something I hope you can teach to your fellow buddhist NUS_Superst@r.
My apologies for that, it's just that I find it ironic how he is complaning about others here when he himself has been doing similar things to a different religion. It seems kind of hypocritical to me. Nonetheless, I acknowledge he is not a true buddhist.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:I do not know him well and I think he stated that he isn't completely Buddhist...There are many people who appreciate the philosophies of Buddhism but isn't really a Buddhist strictly speaking.. and a Buddhist is one who has taken refuge in the triple gems (buddha, dharma, sangha)
But I believe trying to argue and fight over religious things is pointless. Finding common ground is more constructive and useful. I do agree with many things in Christianity as well..I am thankful for people like you.
This reminds me of a Malaysian Muslim who has a nasty habbit of bashing all other religions... Among other things he has written a "book" (I use the term 'book' loosely here...) purportedly 'reviewing' Buddhism, and called for the eradication of Christianity.Originally posted by NUS_Superst@r:Just finished watching the video. Or is it dumbness in action?Originally posted by marcteng:the author is creating a bad kamma for himself / herself already, this is a very bad kamma to commit, by slandering.
could it be the works of mara masquerading ?

How can it be bad and heavy karma when it is out of ignorance? How can it be wrong when he or she is misinformed?Originally posted by marcteng:its a very bad and heavy kamma committed by the author of the video, out of ignorance, bigotry and intolerance.
Well, as a learning buddhst, you are taught not to believe everything you are told. You are suppose to investigate, practise and experience it for yourself.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:How can it be bad and heavy karma when it is out of ignorance? If your experience is limited or that is only what you can experience, then it is so.Originally posted by path_seeker:Well, as a learning buddhst, you are taught not to believe everything you are told. You are suppose to investigate, practise and experience it for yourself.
It's no good criticising others when you have absolutely no understanding of how the theory works.
The bottomline is, to learn what you are taught, and to practise what you've learnt. Going too far beyond ain't doing any good.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:If your experience is limited or that is only what you can experience, then it is so.
you go commit a crime, you told judge you are ignorant of the crime, do you think the judge will acquit you based on your ignorance?Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:How can it be bad and heavy karma when it is out of ignorance? How can it be wrong when he or she is misinformed?
Then it is bad karma at most, not heavy, due to not having any true intention of committing the act.Originally posted by marcteng:you go commit a crime, you told judge you are ignorant of the crime, do you think the judge will acquit you based on your ignorance?
the judge will tell you, ignorance of the law cannot be used as an excuse or is no excuse. you will still be punished.
as for kamma, whether good or bad, you will inherit them when you go to the next world. the only kamma that are not good or bad are neutral kamma, like sleeping, sitting and standing.
if you happen to step onto the ant because you are not aware, it is considered no kamma cos the intention is not there.
