Past lives do not determine present life, but affects/conditions present life.. so do not misunderstand it as deterministic and fatalistic.Originally posted by marcteng:I think our past lives have an effect in our present life, what we are now, were the effects of our past lives.

Erm... Buddhism does not encourage astrology.. so if you want to talk to marc about this I suggest you do it in private.Originally posted by justdoit77:Yes, past lifes does affect your present life.
So you are into entrepreneurship?
hmm..I know this skill that can analyse one's personalities based on his birthdate.
Why not you tell me your birthdate, then I will analyse for you, telling you what is your strengths and inadequacies towards entrepreneurship.
You can shuffle the numbers if you don't wish to disclose it.
eg. 1945/6/7 becomes 145679
On the other hand, I do find that buddhists in this forum tend to encourage stupidity.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Erm... Buddhism does not encourage astrology.. so if you want to talk to marc about this I suggest you do it in private.

Keep an open mind and learn from what you can.But it is inappropriate to discuss things not related to Buddhism in a Buddhist forum especially if it is discouraged by Buddha. Like it is inappropriate to discuss about Mathematics or Chinese, etc, in a Buddhist forum.
So buddhists consider their lives as non-buddhist. Life is a part of reality so it is not appropriate to understand it. Chinese unfortunately is part of Buddhist understanding of the sutras as it was spread to the east and translated into different languages. So I see that understanding Buddhist Dharma is different from understanding human life.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:But it is inappropriate to discuss things not related to Buddhism in a Buddhist forum especially if it is discouraged by Buddha. Things like mathematics and chinese has little to do with Buddhism. Of corse if you want to discuss Chinese words related to Buddhism, or etc, that's fine but not Chinese in general. So generally anything not related to Buddhism is best posted elsewhere.. Astrology, for example, is not related to Buddhism.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:So buddhists consider their lives as non-buddhist.
