Honestly, when I was in sec sch, we just skimmed through and nothing much was learnt.
What was presented is also very limited and the ignorance of Buddhism continues to persist. -

I think there is greater awareness as in recent years, due to the increasing publication of Buddhist books, the appearance of internet sites in English, the availability of modern Buddhist music as well as courses conducted in English, more and more English-speaking Chinese, especially the younger Singaporeans, are joining Buddhist circles.

Dear Members and Friends
After our Happiness Retreat in Khao Lak, one the of our members, Matthew Rickard decided to embark on a fund-raising event with his friends for the orphanage we visited in Khao Lak.
The event will take place on a Sunday afternoon at Hacienda, expecting about 350 to 400 people. In a groovy 'al fresco' setting there will be performances by well known local bands and solo artists, as well as an auction run by the popular comedian, Kumar. The event will be hosted by a celebrate radio DJ on Sunday 9 December 2007.
The funds raised will be applied to the extension of the overcrowded orphanage building and the excess will be used to sponsor the children's college education.
In addition to ticket sales, funds will be raised through sponsorship packages that are available to businesses or individuals who wish to take part. These packages include a number of promotional benefits that are listed on the attached documents. I have also included the event flier and proposed t-shirt design should you choose a package that includes the t-shirt branding.
Please come forward to support this event to help these children who lost their families in the Tsunami or abandoned by their surviving parent post-Tsunami.
