Unless you can tell me that a human can experience out of his or her five normal senses your ideal of ultimate reality.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:What a false, dogmatic assumption.

You seem to have misunderstood the "attachment" teaching... until you know how to "form deep bonds" with others "without attachment" you will always be wondering...Originally posted by Isis:Do you think as buddhist, we should foster deep bondage among people?
comment....
ok, i think yes but without attachment and self-craving intention.
infact buddhist should treat all sentient beings equal ... right?
Ultimate reality is not 'beyond' five senses. It is the reality of everything, incl 5 senses. Five senses are a 'display of luminous-emptiness'.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Unless you can tell me that a human can experience out of his or her five normal senses your ideal of ultimate reality.![]()
Im not sure whether the direction of where im going now is right.. that is having no attachment with ppl... cos the people that u had came across all ur life are like this > that is having attachment with things and people. I'm not enlightened. I will still feel emotionally upset when someone i know has passed away. It is hard to let go so easily.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:You seem to have misunderstood the "attachment" teaching... until you know how to "form deep bonds" with others "without attachment" you will always be wondering...
BTW if you only understand it as a concept, the non-attachment teaching is not very useful... to you
As you said before, humans are limited by our senses hence it is not the ultimate reality that we usually experience.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Ultimate reality is not 'beyond' five senses. It is the reality of everything, incl 5 senses. Five senses are a 'display of luminous-emptiness'.
Let me give you an example of how difficult it is.... in the story of Jesus and the rich young man, Jesus tested him and asked if he "understood" and "have the right concept of the truth" by first asking him to summarise the commandments. He passed. Then Jesus wanted him to experience the truth and not just simply "knowing" and "understanding" it.Originally posted by Isis:Im not sure whether the direction of where im going now is right.. that is having no attachment with ppl... cos the people that u had came across all ur life are like this > that is having attachment with things and people. i think it is possible to form deep bonds without attachment.
Yup, naming oneself "Detached" just means he is struggling to detach, and harping on "control" just means one cannot really control him/herself.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Let me give you an example of how difficult it is.... in the story of Jesus and the rich young man, Jesus tested him and asked if he "understood" and "have the right concept of the truth" by first asking him to summarise the commandments. Matthew 19:21-24
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
You see? Get rid of all your attachments... and what happened?
"But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property".
Don't give away all your property if you are attached to them... and if you can give it away, you are not attached to them, and if you are not attached to them, you don't have to give it away. In fact you can be happy with more and more.... do you think the person with "more wealth" can do more harm and do more compassionate deeds or the person with less?
It is the same with the people in your life...
If you are not attached to them, that is when you can form the deepest bonds with them. If you are attached to them, you have the illusion that you have strong bonds with them but it is just an illusion...
The way Jesus suggest is the easy way because the attainment of non attachment is almost instantaneous with proper guidance... (so I suggest you do not do what Jesus advocated - because Jesus said to do it AND follow him, not just sell everything. There must be proper guidance).
It is a difficult way because people cannot get themselves to do it... and it is an impossible way because you cannot do it and follow Jesus physically any more... (you can do it that way and follow a teacher even if you cannot follow Jesus but then some so called "teachers" are crooks...)
There are other ways without taking such drastic actions... and in fact if you are mindful and aware, you can get there with patience and simply learn the lessons from everyday life. Reality includes everyday life... and monastic life... not one, not two...
