Giving thanks in Buddhism?

  Hi,
  
  I remember I saw some leaflet pasted onto a wall a year ago, I think, about a giving thanks ceremony. May I know what is this event about? Curious.

  Outside some shop.. forget what shop it is. I don't know the details because I didn't go near to read the wordings.

  Gelugpa school is a recognised sect of Tibetan Buddhism ,but this Chinese Gelugpa Association is not recognised by Wisdom Bliss , Compassionate Affinity and associates

  While it is true it is not recognised by Wisdom Bliss and Compassionate Affinity (bohiruci's forum) which means that we do not allow advertising by this organisation, most imptly is it is not recognised by mainstream Buddhists and HHDL (dalai lama).
  
  Honestly, I missed this post, otherwise I would have been clarified... but only got to know about it when someone complained about this... long story.

  Though I try to read all topics, it is definitely POSSIBLE that I may be missing something... especially with my busy schedule these days.. therefore I would really appreciate all forummers' help...
