I was (again) watching this drama ('the price of peace' rerun) serial on TV when it gave me yet another inspiration for another question

The setting of the drama is during the Japanese Occupation. In the show, the japanese soldiers captured a women and inflicted many kind of torture on her in an attempt to force her to reveal the locations of the resistance group and the identity of the resistance leaders she's helping. But of course, this women can't say anything as it'll only lead to the japanese killing more people.
And so, the japanese proceeded to inflict inhumane and unimaginable torture on her day by day. Worst, they even capture the women's daughter and proceed to burn her (slowly) in front of the women, hoping that she would reveal what they want.
As I watch the show, I tried putting myself in her shoe and tried to imagine what I would do if I was her. If I reveal where the resistance groups are, the Japanese will surely wipe them out. People will die, and the war would go on. If I don't reveal anything, I'll be tortured day after day until I cannot take it anymore. There's without a single doubt that I'll die...but that'll be in a very very long time.
So, is the only solution in this situation sucide?I don't think this is another hypothetical question because such things may be happening even now in some parts of the world, sadly.
