Christians believe in a Creator Omni-everything God
Buddhists believe in gods... but do not believe in a Omni-everything God
No need to argue because nobody can prove anything... it is just "beliefs"
Until the Christians can ask the Omni-everything God to appear on TV and speak for HIMSELF and Buddhists can ask BUDDHA (or a god that it not omni-everything) to appear on TV and speak for HIMSELF, it is very pointless to argue about beliefs.
Just respect each other's beliefs and remember the Hostages with kind words and thoughts. -

The beautiful thing about the Dhamma is that whether the Buddha exist or not, the Dhamma exist unlike christianity, if God doesn't exist, then the whole belief system would fail.
I would agree with you that we should respect one another and be mindful of good and positive thoughts to the hostages but let not be the chance for christians to evangelise in a buddhist forum.

...and also unfortunately, good and positive thoughts may not help the hostages at all.
I would rather see this thread locked because there already exists a conflict of ideals..... Christian hostages in a Buddhist thread... will inevitably lead to conflicting posts, wherein, some folks may feel offended..... but because the mods here in Buddhism is a lot more tolerant than those in Eternal Hope it has remained opened for so long. -

It is better for them to TRY here so that what they are trying to do, the Buddhists can offer an alternative view. This way people can make up their own minds.
If they hear the Christian evangelistic message outside of the Buddhist forum, the listener hears only one side.
Anyway I feel that it is important that people are sure of their own beliefs and the mods here, I notice, are very confident of their own beliefs, therefore they do not mind if others TRY to preach here... because they are confident of what they believe.
If you stop them from preaching, it might mean that you are not confident of your own beliefs. -

Each to their one understandings. Christian have their beliefs, non-Christians have their different understandings, we can share alternative viewpoints but there is no need to argue.
