  I do not think that condemning the hostages is right and appropriate. They were there as medical volunteers. There is nothing we can do except to remember in our thoughts and speak kind words and bless them (or the way Buddhists put it, offer them merits)

  Anyone in his RIGHT MIND would never think of kidnapping let alone killing. I think all RIGHT-THINKING people are aghast and disgusted by such cowardly acts of the Taliban.
  If we fail to condemn such inhuman acts we are just as culpable and cowardly. This is not unkind. Silence is tantamount to acquisience, and that is equal to condoning. There in lies this great LIE and DENIAL by muslims - of keeping silent and not comdemning the very WRONG acts of those who supposedly fear Allah!

  Why condemn the volunteers? Shouldn't the Talibans be condemned?
  
  Though this is year 2007, we are still facing people whose mind, thinking and belief is year 1007. I see the Talibans like I see in the babarians of thousands years ago. Human stupidity, savageness, selfishness, mindlessness hasn't changed very much.

  As said, it won't be easy for the special force to save the hostages as Talibans have the advantage of terrain (being their "home ground" ) and the lives of hostages.

  Ahmadi repeated the Afghan government was not serious in talks and no progress had been made.
  
  Taliban rebels killed two male South Korean hostages on July 25 and July 30 separately to press the Afghan and the South Korean authorities to meet their demands.

  The grave illness of some of the victims is a worry. We sincerely hope that all of them can pull through and go home safely to be with their loved ones.
  
  On a brightening note - talks in sight to free the South Korean captives between Taliban and South Korean delegation.
  
  Hope that this will be over soon, with good ending.

  Hmmm .... I am not so sure. I thought they keep their Gods to themselves, and always fighting for supremacy of their Gods.

  i dun think u understand the God of the bible, even if u have claimed to have read and understand the bible.
  
  God is sovereign and also, nowhere in the bible says that Christians would not be persecuted or suffered. Look at the apostles: ALL OF THEM DIED A MARYTR'S DEATH.
  
  I pray that God will give them strength to go thru this difficult time.

  That's correct. I didn't even know there is God of the bible! Now and even more, I am confused. There are just too many gods masquerading as the one true God.

  The Talibans are fighters of lost cause. But they won't admit. They have already killed and bloodied their hands and soul (if they believed in one).
  Don't think any petition or plead or prayer is going to help. I am a pragmatist and the practical way is to follow what the Israelis will do in a similar situation.

  Not have "kind thoughts" for the Taliban... thoughts for their liberation from hatred.
