If I'm not wrong, Relic Flower or Se Li Hua is an indication that your mother has attained a certain level of practise, which is good, and could means that she will be reborn in a higher realm, or the Pureland of Amitabha. Nevertheless, during these 49 days, do not stop your daily chanting. On top of that, do as much as possible to participate in fa hui, or pujas, and make offering in her name. It would be best, if the family can keep to vegetarian diet, and dedicate all merits to her. will be going over to thailand soon to donate medication/ coffin to the temple in her name.. as for diet wise i m sticking to more vegetable but not 100% vegetarian as i tried and get hungry very fast. i can understand the term fa hui.. but wad is pujas? -

Also people who die not necessarily only go to heaven or hell, there are 6 realms. As long as you are did not do evil deeds in your lives, and doesn't break the 5 precepts (no killing, no stealing, no lying, no sexual misconduct, no intoxicants) its likely you will be reborn in the human realm or the other higher realms. So I think your mom should be reborn in one of the higher realms. Nevertheless continue dedicating merits to her as it will continue to be beneficial, as stated in the article I pasted previously.. and continue chanting and hope she will seek birth at Amitabha's Pure Land (which is even higher than heaven, and is beyond the six realms of samsara).
As for enlightenment... if one has cultivated the dharma in our everyday lives it is possible to attain liberation from all realms of rebirth altogether and return to our original state which is the clear light of our Buddha Nature... but we must practise hard.. unless we practise, it is generally almost impossible to attain nirvana at the time of death.. to attain liberation at death, we must be liberated and awakened in our living first.will be going over to thailand soon to donate medication/ coffin to the temple in her name.. as for diet wise i m sticking to more vegetable but not 100% vegetarian as i tried and get hungry very fast. i can understand the term fa hui.. but wad is pujas?

errmm.. i do not know it this the same as u all de.. we are now actually using namo guan shi yin and some thai chanting to 'help' her.
for my mum, she most of the time spend at her ' fo tang ' at geylang there hence i believe they also got help her with the tibetian chanting also.
i guess for now. other then helping my mum by transfering merit, there is nothing i can do..
sometime when i look back these few days, sort of regret tat i did not fulfill 100% of wad a child should do.. she spend 2 mths at hospice before breathing her last. and i spend all my nite there coming home in the afternoon to bath, and every nite, i pray very hard, to di zhang wang, buddha, lord jesus. to take my mum with them and give her release. as she at that point of time is dependant on morphin.. now i wish i could have more time. -

There's still alot you can do for your mother. One of it is to live life the fullest and meaningfully, afterall, after all that's the primarily intention for her all these years, to see you and your brother grow up and be the best you can. I may not understand the exact pain you are going through now, but after involving in the stages (as a third party) when my friend loses her mother, I know it's not going to be easy, but you will get through.
You don't have to hold any regret towards not being able to accompany her as much as you can, cos I'm sure you did what you can to spend quality time with her. -

There is always not enough time for us children to repay our parent's loving kindness. You have shown filial compassion in your corcern of your mother's pain during her illness, I believe she have felt your concern. She certainly have been led on by Di Zhang Wang becos of your efforts in chanting. -

All this reminds of something.. that parents are the two buddha in the family.
By repaying kindness to parents is also generating alot of good merits.
