If any god, buddha, christ, allah, mohammed, etc. can tell me the TOTO numbers for the sole winning prize this Thursday, I'll not just give 10% or 1/5 - I will give 90%. I am not greedy, I am happy to keep 10%. Isn't this a real bargain? Don't know why god, buddha or allah wants only 10 - 20% ?? Look for me, I give more!Originally posted by bohiruci:........

Buddha teaching to us is we should set aside 1/5 for emergency and 1/5 for dana .Since 1600 is isnt enuff for even 1/5 ,well the best way is to change job
You are what you worth .A mere 1600 can only be a stepping stone as a fresh grads but not a permanent feature.
in future when your wife and children comes along , the amt is so insignificant
and you need to earn more in this rising cost singapore
Which sutra says that? Care to elaborate?Originally posted by bohiruci:Buddha teaching to us is we should set aside 1/5 for emergency and 1/5 for dana .Since 1600 is isnt enuff for even 1/5 ,well the best way is to change job

why not don't compare at all and be contend with what you already have, and treat any extra as bonus?Originally posted by sinweiy:my mom like to compare her situation with the best in the market.
i said, you're vexing yourself, why not you change your mentality and compare your situation with the worst in the market. you'll feel better.

Worrying and anxiety is a delusion based on an attachment to the false notion of a self and a future... let go of these mental concepts and just do what is needed.Originally posted by Isis:I used to worry.. hai, pls more tuition assignment! so that i can save enough money to do other things.
I realize that worrying about the future only snaps energy and is not constructive to my situation. And to sidetrack, Is worry also a delusion?
After realizing that there is no point in having fear and worry about it, i start to shift my focus on happier things. Think positive and positive things will come along the way.
Focus 5% or more of your time in upgrading yourself and make yourself a recyclable asset.
Rich or poor, one can still be happy. It all about mindset.
A wonderful piece of advise!Originally posted by TheGoodEarth:Be happy with what you have, and

Actually that 1/5 can be said to be our cpfOriginally posted by path_seeker:Then u ask him and let us know. He may be using Taiwan's economic climate as a guide to the 1/5.
Oh yeah.. that could be it. Afterall, it's 20% or (1/5) of our gross pay.Originally posted by DriftingGuy:Actually that 1/5 can be said to be our cpf![]()
ey hope u no offense ah ... i really busy every day to give tuition and daytime working handling with those "wrathful deities" = customer complaintsOriginally posted by path_seeker:Oh yeah.. that could be it. Afterall, it's 20% or (1/5) of our gross pay.
1/5 is just a guide by Buddha , if condition does not allow, one can give dana within ones meansOriginally posted by Xprobe:fact that setting aside dana will cause an arise in fan nao for a practitioner, then there must be something wrong, either:
1. the practitioner's understanding and committment are not solid,
or
2. the so call "1/5 rule" is understood too literally and rigidly, thus should be discarded
essentially, practising buddhism is supposed to minimize or rid one of fan nao, if some of the "ways" get in the way of that, they should be discarded
Don't even "think" about the pay and focus on the Right Thoughts.... and the "pay" will then take care of itself...Originally posted by bohiruci:I used to feel a pay of $1600 isnt enuff ,and it really is .Well
Some ppl would feel earning this amount of salary is enough ,and dun have to earn more . But without preparing a reserve for parent medical issue ,we can be dried out in no instance.
The other way of earning passive income is to give tuition .
Giving tuition helps weaker student in learning and thus give one a chance to impart knowledge to others
there are also other ways of earning passive income ,like investing in unit trust and shares .but i wont elaborate as it is a personal learning curve at this moment
