Political system or ideology is the cause of divided nations. The for or against any ideology, belief, governance will always be there. Political systems and ideologies are man-made. Anything man-made is not perfect, can be used or misuse or abused.Originally posted by goldevil:i think even china becomes democratic , it wont let taiwan go independent .
yup, once they become democratic, the government will need to consider the election and can't suppress the people's anger towards various issues. The china citizen will then be in par with the koreans in demonstration against yasukuni shrine visit, japan occupation of diao yu island, bombarding of embassy, possible military conflict with US in the future.Originally posted by goldevil:i think even china becomes democratic , it wont let taiwan go independent .

In the past, only chinese in hong kong and taiwan are allowed & managed to demonstrate over the above issues. After China turn democracy, things will suprise the americans and they may become upset of introducing democracy to them. ha.
To make this topic more related to buddhism, let's hope whatever happen in the future, war doesn't breakout. May china & taiwan reunify peacefully under a system that benefit the people and allow buddhism continue to flourish.

There is no guarantee. War is usually started by an insane, followed by many insane. And there has never been any guarantee that another insane will not be born or re-born!
lets hope war does nt breakout .
if KMT return to power in 2008 , it will acknowledge the 1992 conseus about both sides belonging to china .
they will merge gradually either when china becomes democratic or under 1 country 2 system .
but according to KMT , they prefer to reunify after china becomes democratic .
That set the conditions for re-unification? A sort of victory for the KMT?
because even when hong kong is governed under 1 country 2 system , hong kong are granted only 50 years .
This is a transition, a temporary solution. A compromise for both Hongkies and mainlanders. There cannot be a permanent 1 country 2 systems - not fair to the billions of mainlanders compared to the millions of Hongkies!
but when it expires , who knows china that time might be democratic .
I think you harbour this secret obssession that China will become democratic. And I think you think democracy is a very ideal and noble system or ideology. Perhaps, you should research more on democracy - rather than just blindly sing along.
I do hope for a peaceful reunification... seems like eventually Taiwan will eventually be united whether in peace or by force... I hope the outcome will not be a disaster.Originally posted by goldevil:this problem getting more and more complex .
lastime only China Communist Party and Kuo Ming Tang are involved , now Democratic Progressive Party gets involved too .
