first ,Buddha never write the script in Sanskrit. It is the first Buddhist Council that the teaching is compiled to oral recital, then written in Palm leavesOriginally posted by johnny1:I'm a Buddhist but I have questions. No Offence.
Buddha is a human being in thousand years ago. One day he is enlightened. He wrote script in Sanskrit.
Since Buddha is human at that time he wrote the script, some people told me that by recite the script can get rid of negative stuff example ghost. Is it possible? A human writing can get rid of negative stuff?
No offence, IÂ’m just searching for answer.
hi, like what bohiruci said, the buddha never wrote anything on sanskrit. All our buddhist scriptures are derived only after the first buddhist council that happened shortly after buddha's parinirvana and his passing away. The teachings were recited mostly by ananda, Buddha's attendant, in the witness of five hundred enlightened monks.Originally posted by johnny1:I'm a Buddhist but I have questions. No Offence.

No, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Guan Yin) existed in Shakyamuni Buddha's times, and is also spoken by Shakyamuni Buddha (for example, Lotus Sutra chapter 25).Originally posted by johnny1:hmm, another thing is Buddha is 2500 plus years from now.
then can i say that bodhisattvas like GuanYin come later and they follow Buddha teach? Can I say that "Da Bei Zou" also not written by Guan Yin?
i just wonder how come they categorize under all Buddha?
(Just wanna Know more)
the language taught was Pali and it was not a written language. the sutta were all pass by words of mouth therefore all the sutta began with "thus have I heard...."Originally posted by johnny1:I'm a Buddhist but I have questions. No Offence.

There was no indications that the Buddha taught solely on Pali, although it is true that the first Buddhist council is compiled in Pali (for consistency in language).Originally posted by Lin Yu:the language taught was Pali and it was not a written language. the sutta were all pass by words of mouth therefore all the sutta began with "thus have I heard...."
as chanting can provide a vibration, thus a positive vibration brings positive effect.![]()

Yes and like Lin Yu said, they were passed down orally at first.. before being compiled in texts.Originally posted by johnny1:oh, so all the sutra... are not written by buddha and bodhisattvas themselves. it all written by others.
No NOT written. Recited. Other monks also recited some stuff.Originally posted by maggot:Most of the sutra were written by ananda right?![]()
No, it is recited in the council of 500 enlightened monks, so anything that is amiss will be quickly corrected. Furthermore Ananda is known to have 'superhuman' memory (maybe not superhuman, as there are those in this days who are able to recite the entire canon by heart) -- that is why Buddha chose him to be his attendant and knew that he will be of a great asset in the spread of dharma in the future.Originally posted by johnny1:oic, but if it pass down by words of mouth... issit possible that something will miss out?
hmm, anyway, think no one will know if anything will miss along the way.
Buddha only had Ananda as his personal attendant. It is common to see Ananda and Kasyapa beside Buddha in statues.Originally posted by johnny1:think Buddha has 2 attendant. One is Ananda another one duno.![]()
OhOriginally posted by An Eternal Now:No NOT written. Recited. Other monks also recited some stuff.
Yea, in some temple i can see 2 attendants.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Buddha only had Ananda as his personal attendant. It is common to see Ananda and Kasyapa beside Buddha in statues.
Both Ananda and Kasyapa are one of the top 10 disciples of Buddha.Originally posted by johnny1:Yea, in some temple i can see 2 attendants.
hmm, so Ananda is the more popular one cos he is chosen by Buddha.
then wat about another one? Kasyapa? like not very well known.![]()
