Yup, I caught the show yesterday. I like yesterday's topic. It was good.Originally posted by sinweiy:i don't know gt cd or not.
anyway, the last show talk about the summary of the progress of human.
roughly mean:
Until the age of 15, remember to study and recieving of informations.
By the age of 30 to 40, time to stabilize and become more confident.
By the age of 40 to 50, you become more and more not confuse.
By the age of 50 to 60, you should be able to know your "destiny", in the sense that you are more understanding to people and nature.
By the age of 60 to 70, you shouldn't be blaming people for who they are. If he's a child, you also use a child like understanding to listen. If he's an adult, you also use an adult understanding to listen. puting yourselve in their shoes and situation. be more encompassing.
By the age of 70 onward, you should be able to go with the flow of what you pleases and not bound by rules.

however, the age is not fixed, you can quickly reach the standard of 70, then good for you!

I think the part at 60 is often mistakenly translated. I heard all versions and hence I was laughing really hard. At 60, one's ear is able to accept all views and hence understand why they would say such words.Originally posted by sinweiy:Thanks. at the standard of sixty my ear is obedient to listen to it.
here two versions from the net:-
one version:
2:4 Confucius said: "At fifteen my heart was set on learning; at thirty I stood firm; at forty I had no more doubts; at fifty I knew the mandate of heaven; at sixty my ear was obedient; at seventy I could follow my heart's desire without transgressing the norm."
another version:
At fifteen I set my heart on learning; at thirty I was firmly established; at forty I had no more doubts; at fifty I knew the will of heaven; at sixty I was willing to listen to it; at seventy I could follow my heart's desire without transgressing what is right.

DVD spotted in Chinatown! *grin*
For those who're interested, the stall is at one of the streets in Chinatown... I think Pagoda Street, but I'm not too sure. It's right at the end of the road to South Bridge Road and it's a stall selling DVDs and CDs.
Confucius is going for $16 and Zhuangzi is going for $20!
Originally posted by TWE:Seems to have many version ley , i saw one set at laserflair selling for $20+ and another set from china parallel import i believe selling for just $9.90 . Can anyone know whats the different other then just the packing ? The one costing $20+ was packaged nicely and seems to contain more topics while the $9.90 seems to contain less topic and is a more ” frugal ” packing . Advises which to buy anyone ?
For the one I have...
Confucius has 7 topics.
Zhuangzi has 10 topics.
