Once there is a military doctor in the Warring state .
He always goes to the battlefield to treat the wounded soldiers .but at times when the battle is over , He saw those he talk to to nurse the soldier emotions corpse was carried back to the mortuary.
He was fed up one day , and was unhappy .
He told to himself ,"Why should I save the wounded soldier , when he will die the next battle ?"
He is so unhappy and he decided to leave his post as a military doctor , going home
When he reach a river , he wishes to cross the river .He saw the boatman rowing his boat from far .As there is no other passenger ,he told the boatman he will wait abit longer.
Through a conversation , the boatman knows that the man is an military doctor
the boatman told him ,"Its okay.Even if there is one passenger I will still ferry you across ."
"One person is better than no person across"
"saving one life is considered as an life "
The military doctor realised the wisdom of the boatman words.
He is very happy that his work is not to save and ensure everyone in the battlefield will be spared from the battle ,but his duty is to save that person live at that time when a soldier is brought to him
This story comes from Tsai Chi Chung .I am truely sorry to all , as i cant remember which title it comes from
Like Avalokiteshvara ,while seeing the magnitude of all He saved still goes into the Hell to suffer , He was agonised and His Head split into several pieces
Amitabha ,His Benefactor teacher , comes and explain to him the wisdom of Non -attachment and most impt Emptiness .Thus Avalokiteshvara regain all the other heads as the 11 faced Avalokiteshvara which can be seen in Shuanglin temple or Phor Kark See Temple
